Topic: In the modern world, it is possible to shop, work, and communicate online without any face-to-face contact with other people. Is this a positive or negative development?

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Shopping, working, and even talking with friends and family are now possible in this period of ongoing advancements in modern science and technology. Despite the fact that this progress lessens interpersonal interaction. I see it as a great development when modern automation, like the internet, is used in daily life.

To start, it is true that people these days avoid face-to-face engagement because of their online stickiness. As a result, more and more people now believe in virtual relationships than they do in actual ones. The reason is that after a long day at work, people could be interested in different news stories that are broadcast on numerous platforms. Such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, to mention a few. This technology also makes it possible to communicate with millions of friends at once. All of these benefits prevent people from making direct eye contact with their parents and other family members. Additionally, people grow to like conversing in the virtual world, where they can expand both their knowledge and their communication skills.

In a similar way, the internet serves as a facilitator for carrying out daily tasks. Now, people may shop while at home by simply clicking a mouse button. This process doesn't take very long, and there are no haggling issues. Additionally, people who choose not to deal with the inconveniences of a congested road can easily and happily work from home. Moreover, having access to the internet around the clock makes it simpler to communicate with friends, family, and coworkers. Particularly those who live distant from their immediate family.

In conclusion, given that people are accustomed to modern technology, the internet plays a significant role in the implementation of activities. For example, shopping, applying for jobs at online businesses and even communicating with close friends and family. According to me, the advantages of using the internet have improved the quality of life for people.

Many activities are now feasible without any physical contact because of digitization. Although digital methods of working, interacting, and purchasing are time-saving and cost-effective. I believe they are a bad development since they can lead to relationship problems and fraud danger.

Undoubtedly, the rise of digital technology has allowed individuals to live more comfortably and save time and money. This is due to a number of factors. First off, with the aid of e-shopping, individuals can quickly receive their preferred stuff at their doorsteps with only a few clicks on a mobile device. As a result, they can significantly reduce their fuel costs for excursions to the grocery store. Second, the availability of applications has made communication incredibly simple and practical. Skype, WhatsApp, and numerous other applications are examples. People can speak with anyone through these programmes without physically going to their locations. Additionally, employees have benefited from digital advancement. These days, a lot of people use the internet to work from home, giving them the flexibility to work when they want.

Despite the benefits indicated above, I think this trend is bad owing to all of its negative aspects. The main cause of social and personal divisions is typically a decrease in face-to-face encounters. For instance, a Hopkins University study found that 40% of adults are likely to become socially aloof by the year 2030. Mostly because of people's disinterest in face-to-face interactions brought on by the massive increase in digital communication. This will not only cause problems in personal and social connections, but it will also cause problems at work. Considering how quickly misunderstandings and disputes with coworkers can arise when there is no facial contact. Online shopping can also occasionally result in fraud and deception. Some corrupt people misrepresent things online by hiding their genuine identities while using phoney reviews and ratings to trick clients.

To sum up, online interactions, work, and shopping are convenient and simple. They are also more likely to result in social alienation and online fraud, in my opinion.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

While some people find the life they lead online to be highly appealing. Others prefer a more traditional way of life and weigh the drawbacks of using the internet much more heavily than its benefits. I'll go into more detail about my viewpoint in the paragraphs that follow.

First off, thanks to modern science and technology, the majority of people in the world now complete most of their everyday tasks with the aid of a network. For instance, in many firms nowadays in advanced countries, work is done online, but there is still a requirement for workers to be physically present. Examples include purchases of homes, clothing, and tickets for transportation, including aircraft, trains, subways, taxis, and buses. Many people in the community find this to be quite nice. Because they can simply handle all of their tasks and no longer need to spend time or money shopping or travelling to work. Additionally, you can get a lot of your questions answered via the Internet, which will greatly advance civilization.

On the other hand, some individuals and experts think that using the internet excessively has several drawbacks. For instance, people may become chronically lazy, certain medical conditions, such as back pain and eye trouble may develop. People may spend less time in the community, which may damage social ties. Due to the numerous drawbacks of utilising it, many believe that it is preferable to complete the majority of the work in person.

In conclusion, I believe that using the Internet is really necessary. In reality, it facilitates each person's and society's personal growth while also making each person's life and obligations considerably simpler. However, highly important matters must be handled physically and in person. Because, in the opinion of experts, it is not prudent or reasonable to rely too heavily on the internet.
