Topic: It is Better to Save Money than to Spend it. How Far do you Agree with this Statement? Is Saving More Important than Spending in Today’s World?

Band 6 IELTS Essay

Saving money is always preferable to spending it on things that are not necessary. Parents now give their kids pocket money, which they spend irrationally. If the child keeps doing this habit, it will become a problem. The value of money must be understood by all. Some people go to bed on an empty stomach, while others go the entire day without eating anything to keep their stomachs full. Some people take food out of the trash can. Since they are aware that they lack the funds to purchase fresh food, they choose the partially consumed or rotten food that has been discarded in the trash.

A person won't be able to appreciate anything, such as food, clothing, or anything else, if they don't comprehend the value of money. Some folks do not have enough clothing to completely cover their bodies throughout the cold. Without a blanket, there are individuals sleeping on the sidewalks. As a result, those without money find their lives to be very difficult because they are unable to provide for even the most basic needs. There are people who reside on footpaths with their spouses, kids, and other family members. They beg in the morning and use any money they receive to buy food for the family. Money's value cannot be fully comprehended in a single day.

This and the effort that is expended to earn that money require time to comprehend. To ensure that their child appreciates the value of money, parents must start by taking a few steps with them from the very beginning. Once the child presents the parents with a demand, they must refuse to satisfy it. The kid needs to develop his or her patience and ability to wait. Furthermore, they must realise that not all demands can be fulfilled and that some demands must be given up. The need to avoid things that won't be very useful, avoid them, and so forth must be instilled in the child.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Today’s generation is facing a major issue regarding the management of money. They are confused between squandering the money and saving it. But the majority vote will go for saving. Savings can be of immense help at the time of emergency or any kind of crisis that can come to his/her life at any moment. Just as an example in today’s competitive world, unemployment is a very common issue. Where the person will have to live his and his family’s life on the savings that he had made in the job life.

Furthermore, the young generation can use their savings in enhancing their skills and increase their education qualification. They can meet their educational expenses from their own savings. In addition to this, a disciplined man can save a small amount every month and buy a house or car of his own at some later point in his life. There are many savings plans in financial institutions. Thus the youngsters must choose wisely, that one what to spend their money on and what they should avoid.

Some youngsters I know receive high support from their parents, and they know that if any financial crisis occurs in their life. Their parents will be by their side to help them, therefore they are not so much towards saving money. They spend money on unnecessary things, buy too many costly things, and order costly dishes every day. But the present generation does not have much savings. They do not consider the uncertainties of life, they are too much. They are of the thought that lives today and do not think about tomorrow.

They lead a lavish life and no zero savings. For example, if there can be some medical issues, then the employer can see for some days. Leave for a few days can be granted, but if the person does not get well within that period, there can be a chance that the person may be sacked. Thus every person must be conscious about which money is to be spent and on which it should be avoided.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Saving money is always better than squandering money. The present generation does not have a clear idea of how the earned money is to be used. They often end up spending the money in worthless places. Buying too many costly dresses, or having dinner in five-star hotels every day is both harmful to their health and also for their pocket.

They must have the knowledge of how many people live without clothes and sleep hungry every day. If they see these realities through their eyes, I think their inner self will tell them to be more rational about spending their money unmonitored. Moreover, savings act as a savior at the time of financial crisis.

Everyone must save a portion of their monthly income so that it can come to their help in times of emergency. For example, if we consider a person who does not have any savings but spends all his income on leading his life lavishly. Now if anyone in his family falls seriously ill, then he will need to borrow money from others for the treatment of his family member. Because he does not have much savings. Now others will think twice before lending him. Because they are doubtful whether he will be able to repay back their money. Or not as it is known that he spends all his income on his lavish lifestyle. Thus it will become difficult for the person to borrow money also.

This is just an instance, there can be even worse situations than this. So savings is very much necessary. One should spend only that much money which is needed in order to meet the basic necessities of life. The luxury needs must be met up to a certain limit, provided savings has been made for the future. Thus the present generation must know what to spend on, how much to be spent, and what to avoid spending on.
