Band 7 IELTS Essay

Education of girls has always been a crucial topic in the history of the modern world. While women have gained rights to be educated after long drawn struggles, it has been possible for the world to come a long way through that. However, even today, some people believe that girls and boys should be educated in separate schools. Although many others believe that boys and girls benefit more from attending mixed schools. Discussing both sides, my opinion would vouch for the latter.

In terms of girls and boys studying in the same school the benefits of it are quite high for both the students. Accordingly, boys and girls become more comfortable in understanding each other. One of the most important aspects of studying in a mixed school is that students of both genders become more accustomed to each others’ styles and personalities. It provides both with higher exposure to the modern world where men and women both have to work coherently. Moreover, the world needs to coexist with both sexes whereby men and women need to work with each other rather than separately. This is to ensure that the perceived patriarchal notions on girls’ education is eradicated. Boys and girls alike need to be part of sex education thereby understanding its different tangents. The students should understand the need for respect for one another being crucial. Effectively, it builds the tolerance of both boys and girls to be educated in a diversified classroom than in a monotonous one. However, on the other hand, traditional beliefs of people who are inclined towards girls and boys should be educated in separate schools. The belief is that segregation between boys and girls from school level helps in protecting social manners. It is considered that boys and girls have a natural inclination towards each other which leads them to flatter each other in mixed schools. Accordingly, they believe that when girls study separately from boys in schools it helps in protecting the modesty and chastity of the students. These beliefs are detrimental for social development and hence, my opinion remains with the fact girls and boys should be educated in mixed schools.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Even in the 21st century where technology and science has advanced at its peak, education remains a challenging issue. Women have struggled too hard to reach a stage where they can be educated and have an aspirational career. However, traditional beliefs of some people are focused on girls and boys studying in separate schools. Certainly, many believe that they should study in mixed schools.

In terms of girls and boys studying in the same school the benefits of it are quite high for both the students. One of the most important aspects of studying in a mixed school is that students of both genders become more accustomed to each other. It becomes possible for both to understand one another as individuals and gain perspective on the differences they contain as individuals. It provides both with higher exposure where they are able to tolerate each others’ presence as well as acknowledge it vehemently. The traditionally perceived ideas of patriarchy are eradicated when boys and girls are able to understand through education that they treat each other with respect. It is easier and more convenient to impact education when it is understood that both have equal rights to be literate and have career goals. The age old beliefs on girls being meant for the household is eliminated and they are made more comfortable in coexisting with boys. Boys on the other hand, learn how to respect women and behave with the girls better in mixed schools than separately. However, on the other hand, some people are inclined towards girls and boys should be educated in separate schools. The belief is that differences between boys and girls exist and the natural inclination towards each is controlled until they are engaged in the event of marriage. It is believed that they are able to control their natural instincts and women are able to behave as per social manners protecting their dignity. These beliefs prove to be derogatory for social development and hence, my opinion remains with the fact girls and boys should be educated in mixed schools.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

The world has been developing in socio-cultural aspects as also in terms of technology and science. This education is also evolving with new patterns of studies and curriculums included. Significantly, the ideas on education of boys and girls should also change in terms of the types of school they should be educated in. However, some people believe even today that girls and boys should be educated in separate schools. On the other hand, educated people of the society consider education of their children in mixed schools for better social development.

The benefits of studying in a mixed school are rather higher than separate schools for both boys and girls. The students of different sexes are able to understand that education is important for all and it does not matter whether a student is a girl or boy. It helps them develop an understanding that both are different personalities who need to develop as well as are capable of pursuing high end goals. Girls and boys are more exposed to their ideas, notions and presence where they find each other’s presence to be more comfortable. Boys and girls studying in separate schools might develop negative notions for each other considering what they are taught. Girls are taught to be more reserved and less exposed in the modern world and in front of boys to prevent them from losing their dignity. Boys are separately hardly taught about how they should behave with women which makes them have wrong ideals of social women. Studying in a mixed school requires sex education which would help the students learn about sexual differences between boys and girls. It would help to understand their equal importance in society. Moreover, girls would become more confident in dealing with boys hence, acknowledging and standing against good touch or bad touch aspects.Segregation between boys and girls from school level is believed to be protecting social manners for both sexes. It is considered that boys and girls have a natural inclination towards each other which leads them to flatter each other in mixed schools. Traditional beliefs are of the view that segregation of schools between boys and girls helps them in controlling their instincts. It makes the students, especially girls more aware of their behaviours. Accordingly, they believe that when girls study separately from boys in schools it helps in protecting the modesty and chastity of the students. Effectively, the benefits of studying in mixed schools are more beneficial and segregation in the name of sexes would only lead to disharmony in the society.
