Topic: It is a good thing for people in senior management positions to get a higher salary than other workers in the same company. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

In the modern world, some people hold the opinion that senior managers ought to be paid significantly more than other employees of the company. This essay will explore some supporting evidence for why I disagree with the assertion and how it relates to other evidence. On the one hand, such a strategy might easily demotivate the majority of employees within the organisation, and they could turn hostile and lose their morale. This is due to the fact that there is a significant wage discrepancy between the management and other employees.

The latter is likely to feel underappreciated and unneeded. As a result, not only will they be less effective and perform poorly, which could lower the company's profits. But also a large number of employees might find this insufficient and quit their jobs. For instance, recent research has revealed that when senior managers' salaries have increased, their subordinates' performance has decreased by 10%. An increase in salary could also significantly raise the costs of the business. If there are many managers and a complex organisational structure. This is because employee salaries and benefits are deducted from revenue when determining profitability because they are considered fixed costs. As a result, the corporation may not only have a substantially reduced net profit but potentially a net loss. Economic analysts, for instance, contend that a business could lose as much as 20% of its revenue with such a strategy. Finally, since it has many disadvantages, I disagree that top managers' salaries should be significantly greater than those of regular workers. First off, it might demoralise employees and harm their performance. Second, it might dramatically raise an enterprise's costs and lower its overall profit.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

In the modern period, it is frequently contested whether it is just for a business to pay a senior manager a higher salary than it does for the other workers. According to the seniority of the employee, this essay concurs that firms must offer a worker a nice salary package. First of all, they put in a lot of effort over a long period of time to rise to this level, and secondly, they have high academic standing. People who are in charge of a team of capable employees in a company should be paid more because they have greater experience.

This is due to the fact that a firm will frequently employ an experienced individual to supervise other staff. Companies bargain salaries based on an employee's total work experience if they have five to six years of expertise in a certain profession. It is an appropriate method to recognize their dedication and competence, which they develop through years of labour. For instance, Maruti, a company that makes cars, has set the wage slabs of its employees based on their experience working full-time. Does there exist another option for rewarding someone? Definitely not. Higher-ranking employees in an organisation typically have advanced degrees in their professions. This indicates that they have invested time, money, and effort to obtain such an academic qualification. As a result, the corporation is required to offer such workers attractive wages and benefits. For instance, Google, the biggest software business in the world, pays Nelson, its managing director, a yearly package of one million dollars. Advanced degrees are a requirement for anyone who wants to work for a company and earn a respectable salary. To sum up, employees in higher positions within an organisation, such as managers, must be paid well. Because they have extensive knowledge and experience in their fields and hold advanced degrees.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

Many people find it difficult to decide whether to allocate a substantial percentage of their budget to senior managers vs employing a motivated young workforce. While some feel that the direction of a senior manager would help them reach their goals more easily. Many young entrepreneurs believe that a team of juniors is easier to mould, helping to maintain the workflow fluid and dynamic. I personally subscribe to the latter.

And I would use examples from Harvard and Oxford Universities to illustrate how having senior managers on the team may actually be beneficial over the long term. On the one hand, a group of graduates who are eager to learn can provide you an advantage when it comes to using the newest techniques and technology. The primary causes of this are twofold. First, technology has made all fields volatile. The change serves as the only constant, making it more difficult for seniors to stay current than for knowledge-hungry adolescents. According to a new study, the globe will undergo more change in the next 20 years than it has in the previous 200. Additionally, hiring experienced individuals is expensive. And depriving management of the chance to hire numerous individuals on a limited budget might have its own set of drawbacks. On the other hand, a senior manager with plenty of experience can play a significant role in minimising errors. A path to the intended outcome can be established by cross-referencing numerous prior use cases using experience from multiple fields. According to a recent study, firms with one to five senior members had 90% more success prospects than those without them. Last but not least, senior managers support a company's overall productivity by bringing organisational structure and etiquette. In conclusion, the evidence shown above enables us to comprehend that, even if senior managers may be expensive. However, having them on the team may undoubtedly be advantageous and may be crucial to the success of the business.
