Topic: International tourism has brought enormous benefits to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the environment.
Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages?

Band 6 IELTS Essay

International tourism has become a popular and large industry in recent years, and many towns and cities have reaped the benefits. However, some people are concerned that the activity will have a negative impact on the surrounding communities. The following essay will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of international tourism.

However, I believe it has more advantages than disadvantages. On the one hand, some people believe that international tourism activities have negative consequences for local societies. The main reason is that they are concerned about the local environment becoming distracted as more people visit the location. Mount Everest is a popular tourist destination, but it has been reported that the amount of garbage has increased dramatically in recent years. As a result, it could have a disastrous impact on the local environment. Another reason is that tourists will introduce negative cultures to the locals. For example, some westerners enjoy drinking alcoholic beverages, and elders in local societies are concerned that the locals will do so. For example, some westerners enjoy drinking alcoholic beverages, in local societies are concerned that the locals will also enjoy drinking those liquors. Finally, many people believe that the threat of a terrorist attack is a negative aspect of international tourism. On the other hand, many people believe that travelling abroad for leisure purposes would be beneficial to the destinations. To begin, it creates many job opportunities for locals, as some of them may become tour guides or run small businesses. Second, when foreign tourists visit a country, they will spend their money on a variety of activities. This means that they will also generate revenue for the local government. The development of these areas will absorb many jobs not only from the local area, but also from other cities and countries. In conclusion, despite its negative effects, I believe that global tourism industries would benefit local residents and communities more. It improves the country's economic situation and creates job opportunities for locals. Concerning the negative consequences, it all depends on how the government creates and implements clear regulations.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

People have different perspectives on the impact of international tourism. While I acknowledge that international tourism has some positive effects on our lives, I believe it has more negative effects than positive ones.

On the one hand, international tourism has numerous benefits. To begin with, from a personal standpoint, tourism is a very popular leisure activity. Tourists can unwind and have fun by visiting a new location. Furthermore, tourism broadens their horizons and opens their minds by exposing them to various cultures and customs. Second, from an economic standpoint, the tourism industry is critical in many countries. People may rely on tourism for a living. In addition, the tourism industry generates numerous job opportunities in service industries such as hotels and restaurants. However, despite the numerous benefits, there are some drawbacks. In order to make the area more appealing to tourists, the natural surroundings are altered, which eventually harms the environment. Furthermore, it destroys the habitat of local animals. Because so many people rely on the tourism industry, there are times when tourists do not visit, causing locals to struggle to earn a living.

International tourism, on the other hand, I believe has a greater negative impact on the environment and local cultures. Tourism can harm the environment in three ways, according to environmentalists. To begin with, the excessive construction may destroy natural habitats and even result in the extinction of many animals and plants. Furthermore, international tourism contributes to increased pollution and waste. Finally, the tourism industry places additional strain on natural resources such as oil and water, which may result in a shortage of some basic human needs. Tourism may have a negative impact on local cultures from a cultural standpoint. Traditional jobs and skills, such as farming and fishing, may become extinct as a result of tourism, which forces people to work in their services. As a result, this may result in loss of many cultural features and values.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

There is no doubt that international tourism benefits a wide range of communities. However, it has some drawbacks that have an impact on the environment and the indigenous population. It's difficult to say whether it has more disadvantages than benefits. Around the world, the tourism industry is benefiting various places by not only generating good revenue but also creating job opportunities.

However, there are some potential disadvantages to international tourism, such as negative effects on local residents and the environment. Nonetheless, I am convinced that, when all factors are considered, the benefits of tourism outweigh the drawbacks. On the one hand, international tourism is beneficial in a variety of ways. To begin with, it contributes to the country's revenue generation. Furthermore, it plays an important role in creating job opportunities for local residents. For example, a country like Dubai has an oil industry that generates income, but there are no other sources of income. However, due to Dubai's world-class tourist attractions, a large number of tourists visit the city. Second, in order to accommodate international tourists, many locals work in various companies that assist the tourists. As a result, tourism benefits both local residents and the government in tourist areas.

Turning to the positives, the first is the enormous revenue it brings to the country's economy. Due to which many countries spend vast sums on advertising to welcome international tourists. Other significant advantages of international tourism include increased trade and infrastructure development. When foreign tourists arrive, they naturally require more facilities, necessitating the establishment of new commercial establishments by local governments. This would completely change the appearance of the area and raise the living standards. Despite these benefits, many people are concerned about the growth of international tourism because of potential threats to the environment and local people. The most serious concern is the destruction of the area's natural geographical features. For example, many trees are felled, beautiful hills are levelled, and valleys are reshaped to allow for infrastructure developments. Another major environmental concern is increased pollution. Even though international tourism employs many locals, many have lost their cultural identity, and are involved in illegal businesses. To summarise, even after conducting a critical analysis, it is difficult to determine whether international tourism has more advantages or disadvantages.
