Some Teachers Think that International Student Exchange Would be Beneficial IELTS Writing Task 2

I believe that the exchange program enables students to learn a new language and culture. It helps the students to broaden their long perspectives while boosting their employability. One of the significant advantages of foreign trade and exchange is new language acquisition. This helps students learn a new language and culture. This in turn creates a golden opportunity for them to be immersed in the community, which is the main key to learning a second language. Since students go out and live on their own, it helps them learn new ways of life. It matures them against the difficulties that they are going to face. The exchange program helps them to grow and develop as a person. Moreover, embracing a new culture pushes students beyond one’s comfort zones. It is one of the things that transform the experience into something extremely valuable. Not only is studying abroad an excellent opportunity to expand students’ perspectives, but it can promote their employability. Studying abroad shows employers that some students can adapt to changing situations easily, and they are good at problem-solving.

The only disadvantage of the international student exchange program is the expense of studying abroad in some of the big countries. Since it is very expensive, it excludes many of the students, especially those from less developed countries. Living abroad usually requires a substantial amount of money depending upon the living standard of the host nation. Aside from admission and tuition fees, studying abroad will require a substantial amount of money for travel, food, accommodation, treatment, entertainment, and so on. For example, if someone doesn’t have health or medical insurance, all the medical diagnostic tests and medication may cost him or her a fortune. Also, Culture shock is another problem among exchange students. Apart from the language barrier, a student is likely to encounter strange customs, different beliefs, and different paradigms of thought, which can be overwhelming and interesting.

I believe that an understanding of different cultures is highly valued in the workplace they are working. This helps especially in transnational and multinational companies. So in my opinion, the student exchange would be very beneficial to students who are interested in higher studies.

The current process of globalization has already helped to eradicate the borders and limits in some spheres present all across the world. Indeed, thanks to the Internet and vast connectivity between countries, more people gained an opportunity to travel abroad and pursue their higher education. In the past centuries, for instance, only a very limited number of school students were able to go to a foreign country and study with foreign peers. Right now almost every school teenager has a chance to explore the option of visiting colleges abroad. Multicultural communication and diversity have already become the main trends in contemporary education. The experience and knowledge that a school student could acquire abroad would definitely favor students in the longer perspective. As a concluding point, I would say that every problem has a solution and that solution will have cons and pros. The advantage of the solution is that the teenagers were subjected to many different cultures and this foreign exchange will definitely help to ensure that.

Personally, I do believe the advantages of the program for children would outweigh the possible disadvantages. Rather than thinking about possible disadvantages a child could face, parents must develop a mentality to understand that in current society a person with more experience and knowledge would make a difference amongst the crowd. An international school student exchange would make their children more competitive and confident. However, people have to strive hard to indulge in other cultures. Very few problems would be faced by the students are expected to be happening in the near future.

On the one hand, there are several drawbacks when teenagers go overseas for the sake of higher studies. Firstly, these exchange programs will cost a considerable amount of money. A handful of students may be inaccessible and have to choose some other part-time work to earn the money for fees. For example, students who come from developing countries like India would find it difficult to apply to student exchange programs in industrial nations because of the financial burden.

Secondly, even with preparation and knowledge about the new environment, adolescents could still experience culture shock which is the most important aspect. Everyone should be able to focus on their own ideas, which can affect them in different ways. Another potential drawback is the health issues that can occur during the stay in a foreign country.

On the other hand, I believe that the benefits are more significant than such disadvantages. One of the reasons for this notion is that international visitors would have a shinier resume which is valuable for them in the years to come. By working in some foreign organizations, they will gain more practical experiences that make their profile more competitive. Another reason is that teenagers would have a chance to experience cultural exchange. This broadens their mind and also helps them make new friends for a lifetime. Additionally, after finishing the program, overseas students tend to obtain more opportunities to find good jobs. The reason is that they have a strong network of friends that is neglected by many as an advantage of the student exchange program.

In conclusion, I would argue that the advantages of international student exchange programs are more significant than the disadvantages.
