This number decreased to 3.0/1000 persons in 1990, but increased to 3.8/1000 people in 2000.
The number of hospital spaces per thousand in France increased the most dramatically, from 0.2 in 1980 to 1.6 in 2000, an increase of eightfold. During the specified period, the number of hospital beds per 1000 persons in Austria increased from 1.4% to 3.7%.
