Band 6 IELTS Essay

Employee motivation is an important part of workplace culture and one of the biggest challenges that any employer faces in this age of globalisation. Employees are the asset for business organisations who work and function to meet their goals and objectives.

Retaining the employees within the organisation requires businesses to ensure that they are able to keep their employees satisfied which is possible through various ways. One of the most effective ways of motivating employees is through rewards for their exceptional performances. Reward in the form of appraisals and promotion are a way through which it is possible for organisations to motivate employees. When employees find that their hard work and efforts are valued in the form of these rewards they tend to value their employer more. Further, many employees are motivated with the compensation that they receive for their job role. However, a study by Daniel Pink, a renowned psychologist has been able to state that it is not only compensation that motivates employees. He stated that when employees find a purpose to work for the company, they feel more motivated than the cash bonus that they might receive. Hence, rewards in the form of promotion or an award instigates employee motivation more than compensation. Moreover, in order to break the monotony of work life, it is important for employers to conduct fun activities. At the workplace, when employees find a way to enjoy their time at work, it helps them naturally to feel relaxed and they enjoy their time at the company. Furthermore, when an employer takes initiative for employees’ skill development through training, it is satisfying to them. They feel that the employer values them and their development of skills in the training process is a way to motivate the employees. For instance, even during the covid19 period, the HR department has enabled conducting online fun activities to break the monotony of working from home. Further, the fact that many organisations have induced counselling sessions. This is to ensure that mental healthcare of employees taken care of can be cited as an instance of employees.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

In today’s age of globalisation where numerous workplace cultures are growing and expanding, employee motivation has become extremely important. It is essential for organisations to ensure that they are able to keep their employees highly satisfied within the workplace.

This is to enable higher productivity and efficient performances which is required for the business to grow. Certainly, employee motivation comes from when the person is promoted or awarded with proper titles or positions in the company for its excellent work. When the work of the employees are recognised, they feel valued working for the company and hence, are able to work harder and better. One of the most significant aspects of employee motivation is that when these employees are rewarded, they take ownership of their work. They have a sense of responsibility and the job role itself makes them more efficient. Employees feel more satisfied working for the company thereby being able to enhance their efficacy in the business market. However many people think that monetary compensation serves as a reward and motivational drive for employees. While in some cases, it might be true, the motivation through money lasts for a small period of time. Daniel Pink, the psychologist, has been able to reveal that when employees are valued for their expertise and are given a sense of purpose at work, they are more motivated. Hence, Daniel Pink suggests that money is an imperative source of motivation for employees. On the other hand, it becomes important for employers to conduct activities at the workplace which are meant for leisure. Employees tend to enjoy interaction with their colleagues while making new friends. While the pandemic has led to work from home cultures, it may be considered that people are highly inclined towards a more beneficial way of performing. Significantly, fun activities enable employees to engage better with the company and thus, they are more satisfied with the work culture.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

The age of globalisation can be considered to have an impact on the workplace culture where employee motivation significantly becomes one the biggest challenges. Employers have to deal with different range of expertise and it is essential that employers keep them highly satisfied.

Employee motivation generates not only from the fact that they are compensated industrial level salaries but also with being valued for their skills. When employees are rewarded with promotions and an increase in salary, their motivation level rises. They feel that they have delivered valuable work for their organisations and are hence, excellent performers. These tend to influence them to put in better efforts as well as enhance their capacity within the company. Moreover, not just their basic requirements for food and shelter are fulfilled with money but their self-esteem also increases with promotions and appraisals thus, retaining them within the organisation. Their capabilities are further enhanced when they are trusted as individuals and their work is respected. Another way of employee motivation is identified with having an effective workplace culture or environment. It is essential that employees feel they work in a cooperative and collaborative environment. They need to feel that their abilities and requirements are being valued and that their employers are cooperative enough. This gave them a sense of motivation to work within that specific organisation where they feel they have participatory roles. They want to work in an environment where they are not just motivated with higher levels of rewards and compensation but are also endowed with responsibilities. Accordingly, employees need to feel satisfied when they use their skills and expertise for a company. An example of Google can be evaluated where employees feel satisfied to work because of the workplace culture that provides them with everything. All sorts of facilities that employees might require are given to them thereby being able to enhance their passion to work. Hence, encouragement of employees in terms of workplace motivation and enduring employee satisfaction is essential to retain and engage them.
