Topic: Illiteracy continues to be a concern for many countries in the world today. What are the causes of illiteracy in the modern world, and what effects does it have on the people concerned and on society as a whole?

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

In the current world, illiteracy is a less talked-about issue, but it can have a significant impact on both people and the community. We will talk about a few of the impacts and two apparent key reasons.

Families living in poverty may be the main cause of illiteracy. This aspect not only appears to be the main reason why children are not given an education. But it could also promote household instability in all of the most impoverished families. Therefore, acquiring an academic education is practically unheard of among these families. Low parental education seems to be another well-known contributing factor. Parents who lack literacy are far less likely to enroll their kids in school, demonstrating a lack of concern for their future educational opportunities. For instance, the large majority of children who reside in slum regions have parents who are illiterate and few other options for them to turn to. Therefore, these two factors have a direct impact on illiteracy in the modern world.

This issue could have extremely negative effects on both individuals and society. Individually, it could result in low self-esteem. Due to their apparent inability to read, these people appear to deal with a variety of issues in their daily lives. And rather than being able to handle them on their own, they almost entirely rely on other people. They don't seem to have as much trust in their ability to solve the issues on their own as they formerly did. In terms of how illiteracy affects the community, these people can burden the government in a variety of ways, mostly in terms of economic and social concerns.

For instance, the majority of resources in many emerging and less developed nations. Such as Iran and Afghanistan, appear to be earmarked for tackling crimes that have their roots in illiteracy. As seen, a lack of skill can negatively impact both individuals and their communities.

Overall, family income and parents' lack of education appear to be the main culprits. These factors can damage people's self-confidence and place a lot of strain on states in terms of finances and society.

Given that so many nations are currently exhibiting this pattern, rising illiteracy is undoubtedly a current issue. I will now list the two main causes and two significant effects.

Most likely, a lack of accessible educational resources is the main factor. There could be several kilometers between you and the closest school. Many people seemed to opt to remain at home rather than endure the hard task of walking vast distances to school every day. Another well-known factor is that many illiterate parents downplay the value of education. This is particularly true in rural places where a large portion of the older population lacks a formal education.

Poor parents can only afford to meet the most basic needs of their children. Such as food, clothing, and housing, so these children cannot receive a proper education. It can be difficult for parents to purchase the supplies their children need for school. Parents with low education, who tend to pay less interest to their children's education, are another well-known contributing factor. The academic performance of youngsters may be affected by this mindset. Children may also stop caring about learning and leave school. The impact of this issue on both people and society can be very severe.

The progress of the economy and society may be the main effect. People with a college degree or other form of education possess the knowledge. And intellect to make wise financial decisions and advance a country's plan for growth. Thus, illiteracy impedes the nation's progress. This is particularly evident in Ethiopia, where there is a low level of schooling. Social crime is another major impact. A person can learn socially acceptable conduct patterns and some civic sensibility through schooling. Social crime seems to be more prevalent in nations with high rates of people who have not completed high school.

In conclusion, inadequate educational resources and illiterate families are two things that contribute to the high percentage of illiteracy. Development in infrastructure facilities and the implementation of free tuition are two workable answers to this issue.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

Many nations nowadays are plagued by dire concerns regarding their literacy rates. Cutting edge technologies and dropping out of school appear to be the main culprits. But illiteracy has an impact on the economic function of the nation and the deterioration of humankind.

To begin with, some kids begin their schooling but drop out. In other terms, students who don't want to study lose focus and ambition to learn. So they just drop out of school without earning a degree that's high enough. For instance, current study indicates that nations with the highest percentage of school dropouts had 20% higher rates of stupidity. Another reason is that people no longer have to worry about grammar thanks to current technology. People need to have at least a bachelor's degree in order to be recruited in the modern world of today in order to prevent problems. Otherwise, they frequently commit crimes like burglaries that endanger the safety of the neighborhood. The last, and most important, result of illiteracy is the irreversible harm it causes to a nation's political and economic conditions. Because both require a highly educated population to maintain and advance the nation after other developed nations.

Illiteracy has a negative impact on a nation's economy and political climate. Politics and economics, as is well known, demand a high level of intellect. However, if the population of a nation is ignorant, all social issues will be addressed, including economic collapse and political ignorance. Additionally, illiteracy would only harm human evolution in the opposite direction if sufficient effort was not put into studying. For instance, according to research done by Cambridge University, those who haven't completed high school. And who responded to the same questionnaire ten years later had slower response times and lower IQ scores.

In conclusion, ignorance is a problem in many countries today and contributes to school dropout rates and the rapid development of technology. It is reasonable to draw the conclusion that illiteracy has detrimental impacts on a notable poor country's position. In contrast to others, as well as the potential deterioration of humanity.
