Crime and Punishment IELTS Writing Task 2 has three model answers which have been given below. It is an essay based on a cause and solution essay. In this Crime and Punishment IELTS writing task 2, answers begin with identifying both views and are followed by a brief explanation related to the topic. The crime rate is becoming directly proportional to the instances and severity of punishments. What are the underlying reasons behind such a trend?

A common perception across societies worldwide is that punishment is the same as criminal justice wherein if you commit a crime. The inherent justification behind such a mindset is that once an offender is imprisoned and serves time in jail, he/she has, in a way, paid the debt to society, and justice has been proclaimed. But the problem with such a systematic process of punishment is that the victims tend to ask for the most severe of punishments for their wrongdoers often failing to understand that it certainly could not compensate for their loss, relieve them from distress or heal their psychological wounds. Primarily, punishment is executed for different reasons: Incapacitation, i.e, crime prevention by confining offenders in a prison cell. Retribution, which provides the victim and society with emotional satisfaction, is not a sound public policy. Deterrence, wherein the punishment is likely to discourage the offender from reoffending.

The tough-on-crime societies, which punish more and more individuals severely, have given an exponential rise to prison populations and imprisonment rates across the world. We must realize that excessively severe punishments would most probably have negative repercussions, as the circumstances and experiences of criminal offenders are in stark contrast to ours.

Criminals are thought to commit more offenses after receiving their first penalty. This is related to a lack of economic stability. This issue can be alleviated by giving financial support and teaching them skills.
People who have served the first sentence are more likely to do unlawful crimes because they need to earn a livelihood. They are not seen as respectable members of society after receiving a jail sentence. As a result, they have fewer opportunities for high-paying jobs. As a result, people must conduct more crimes in order to get the basic requirements.
Many wrongdoers can be deterred from committing further offenses after completing their initial sentence by giving financial assistance. The government must offer them free access to training facilities. For example, the government of Pakistan launched an attempt to teach inmates new skills. These talents enable individuals to make money in the future rather than continuing to engage in immoral behavior. Furthermore, the government must provide compensation to criminals who have completed their first sentence. They may be motivated not to engage in illegal activities if their economic situation is stabilized. As a respected member of society, this adjustment. As a result, the government's participation in assisting individuals in learning skills and giving cash to them lessens their risks of committing crimes after completing their first sentence.
To summarise, criminals commit more crimes after serving their first sentence. This behavior is motivated by the insecurity of their economic situation. This problem may be handled by providing financial assistance and teaching them skills.

In many nations and countries, the crime rate is becoming progressively severe. Although the perpetrator affects several cultures, the disastrous results can be gloriously combated. This article addresses some of the problems produced by committing new offenses after being sentenced on a global scale and suggests some potential solutions to address the serious issues.

For example, according to a global report, the rate of crime is increasing drastically, and the most surprising fact is that a prisoner who has been punished is more active or engaged in these sins. The second source of concern is that global poverty has reached an all-time high.
However, the threat of resolutions can be combated. The essential element to facing difficulties is education and awareness. The whole public must be aware of the adversity. As a result, they can avoid doing it. Furthermore, the government should take severe action by establishing strong strategies and plans to solve the problem as soon as possible. For example, in the United States, it is common practice in police stations to encourage education among convicts in order to overcome existing worries.
In a nutshell, crime is a serious problem since it has a negative influence on the entire community and undermines a country's well-being. The aforementioned solutions are the best ways to deal with it. Even if it is unlikely that the problem will be completely removed in the medium term, meaningful steps should be taken to lessen the harmful consequences it is having on the globe.
