Many people think modern communication technology is having some negative effects on social relationships. Do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer 1:

Digital communication has its an impact on human relationships have long but whether the impacts are good or bad is a matter of controversy. To a great extent, I believe that modern ways of communication sometimes affect social relationships.

The greatest mode of digital communication is mobile, which was designed for telecommunication. Presently with the easy access to social in the smartphone, it is beyond any doubt that people’s social relationships are getting poorer. Smartphone users prefer to see things in their built-in cameras, not directly through their eyes. They play mobile and games but they don’t know the playground. They have so many friends on social media but they may not know their neighbors. They protest against global issues but the local issues remain unseen. They make friends breaking the boundaries of countries without even seeing but the people around them are unknown. So, definitely digital communication makes people socially isolated.

If we can use mobile phones for what it is designed to we may stay more socially connected and it can improve the quality of lives as well. Apart from being individual, we are also a part of society and we must not forget this. Having a face to face communication keeping aside digital communication for a specific duration each day can strengthen our social ties and it will be very helpful at the time of need.

Digital life and digital communication reduce our scopes of socializing as we avoid social gatherings to be digitally available for some other happening. For example, people are ready to miss a birthday party or a wedding reception nearby for a virtual meet. But the fact is at the time of emergency, the people outside the town or country will not come for help – the neighbors will.

I strongly believe that people’s social relationships get much damaged due to digital communication and it is not at all a sign of a healthy society.

Advancement of technology and communication has brought impacts on human relationships. I disagree with the view that technology has a negative impact on human relationships. With a single tap on a phone, one can connect easily with the near and dear ones.

Technological changes develop an effective way of communication among human beings. Like other positive sides, the huge use of technology brings distance among social entities. While going out at a restaurant, two people forget to initiate a conversation among themselves rather they spend their time uploading photos over social media.

If a person fails to follow up the recent trends then there comes a FOMO psyche. Human relationships make a turn in this new age era of technology. As far as society is concerned, with technological advancement, social communication has changed immensely. When the world came to standstill due to a pandemic then every office space started seeking the help of technology for easy communication. Amongst many disadvantages, technological advancement has changed the world view of many individuals.

Different human beings function in a different manner in social space. For many tangibility becomes a focus in a relationship. Sharing a handwritten note is more valuable for many on birthdays rather than sharing a snap over social media. Different individuals crave various aspects from society. Technological advancement made our life easy but in some cases, it brings a negative impact. To make a day special, one can arrange a surprise for near ones just with a single click but a decade before technological advancement also shows warmth in human relationships. Earlier when one wishes to have any special dish they go to their elders but now one can order it online with the same taste without that touch of love and warmth. Technology has both positive and negative impacts but it depends on the users how they are using the technology as a boon or bane.
