Band 8 Answer
The Internet has become a part and parcel of our lives. Today, every generation is dependent on the internet for different activities ranging from productive work to entertainment. The Internet has become more of an inseparable part of our lives. More often, internet dependency can be seen in the young age groups. The data given above depicts the internet usage by different age groups in categories of getting news, online games, downloads, product research, buying the product,s or searching for people.
Analyzing the data given, we understand that 81% teenage group is more interested in online games over the internet. Their interest area over the internet is surrounded more often by playing online games than getting news or online shopping. The teenage group children are least interested in searching for people over different social media platforms on the internet and their percentage comes down to 5%. While talking about the people in their 20s, they make a balance between all the different activities on the internet by being active in getting news on the internet, playing games, downloading, online searching, shopping, product researches, etc. Since this age group is filled with curiosity and is always eager to learn and explore new things, these people are more often involved in every activity on the internet equally. Whereas the age group between, 30-50 consists of more mature people whose activities on the internet are almost similar. People of these age groups share almost the same interests and they are most active in product research and getting news on the internet. These people are also least interested in searching for people on the internet i.e., 23%-24%. Due to their busy schedule and lifestyle, the people of these age groups share different priorities but similar preferences over the internet. However one can see that the buying products on the internet have been the interest of almost all the age group people from teenagers to people above 70s with their percentage varying from 41% to 69%. Downloading games and different media stuff are found mostly among the teenage group people. people above the age of 70 are least interested in downloading kinds of stuff over the internet with only 6% and are highly active in getting news and researching products on the internet.
From the data given above, we can conclude that the internet serves a different purpose for people of different age groups.
Band 7 Answer
Internet is a serving medium and it serves different purposes to people of different age groups. For teenagers it might be a mode of entertainment by playing games and downloading stuff over the internet, however for people from the 30-50 age group, it serves as a productive medium in their work-related things. For older group people, it might just be a source of news or shopping, etc. people ask for different demands over internet according to their age group. The data gave above talks about the six different activities over the internet for different age groups of people.
Firstly, considering the news, the internet has been an exceptional medium for getting news of different events across the globe. This activity is common among all age groups people from teenagers to older people. 76% of the people in their teenage and 30s actively use the internet to get news of different events across the globe. However, only 70% of the people above the age of 70s use the internet as a source of news. Secondly, the internet provides the biggest platform for playing games online and teenagers are the most active group in playing online games with a percentage of 81%. This proportion goes down with the increasing age and the people above the 70s are often more interested in online games than the people belonging to the 40s to 60s age group. Thirdly, downloading stuff over the internet is becoming more uncommon now with their percentage going down with increasing age. Though 52% of teenagers are interested in downloading things over the internet this trend decreases to 6% in the age group of people above 70s. another activity product research is most common in every age group except the teenagers who are uninterested in doing product research over the internet and the percentage of these people varies from 70% to 83%. Online shopping is common among all age groups people from teenagers to older with an average percentage of 65%. However, teenage groups and people above their 70s are comparably less interested in online shopping than other age group people. searching people over the internet is the most common activity among people belonging to their 20s. as this age is more curious and is keen to explore than other age group people and their percentage ranges to 31%. This activity is the least among teenagers with only 5%.
It can be concluded here that the internet is a vast medium with vast purpose serving technologies. However, some of the activities are common among all age group people, but some age groups have different activities than other.
Band 6.5 Answer
Different age groups people from teenagers to older use the internet for different purposes and their activities vary from one another according to their interest areas. Teenage people are more interested in playing games online, whereas, people in their 20s and 30s use the internet for social media and searching people over there. Old age people find it as a medium to gain news across the globe.
Studying the data chart above, we find that the internet usage of the different age groups people revolves around six different activities of seeking news online, playing games, downloading, online shopping, searching people over the internet, reviewing products. The most prevalent activity among teenagers is playing online games with 81% of the teenagers use the internet just to play games online and only 76% of the teenagers use the internet for news purposes.
people from their 20s to 70 above spent most of their time over the internet researching products and their percent ranges from 70% to 83%. The most common activity among all the age group people is shopping online over the internet and most of their time goes to this activity. Over the internet from 40% to 70% of their activities are surrounded by buying things online. A very small proportion of the people use the internet to search for other people over there and the teenagers are least interested in these activities. People in their 20s are the most curious age group and 31% of their activities over the internet are related to searching people over the internet. 52% of teenagers' activities over the internet go to the downloading things over the internet and this activity trend decreases with the increasing age. People belonging to the above 30 age group spend an average of 25% to 35% of their activities on playing games online over the internet. People above the age of 20s spent most of their internet activities on reviewing products online. 83% of the people belonging to the 40s age group use the internet to review products online.
From the above information, we can conclude that internet activities of the people depend majorly on their interest areas and their requirements.
