Topic: Describe your experience of a service which was not good and you complained about.

Sample Answer:

When using a service I usually ignore minute unkempt disappointments that I may face. Complaining over the slightest details doesn't always feel right. However there was a time when I couldn’t stop myself from complaining. I had booked one of the restaurants near my place to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I liked the restaurant as it had a quaint vibe.

I made all the arrangements a week ago. I asked them to prepare a dark chocolate cake, and to prepare a special dish for dinner. For the decorations I asked them to pull off a I had specifically asked them for a 1920’s theme as my friend loved such themed parties.

On the day of the birthday, I was appalled to see that none of the arrangements had been properly. The decorations were way off the theme and were somewhat messy. There was a 20-minute wait for the cake and the main dish wasn’t cooked properly. From food, to decorations, everything was disordered.

I was furious at their carelessness, and couldn’t help myself but to shout at the manager. I enquired as to why everything was so disarranged. The manager made a ton of mistakes to cover for their mistakes. I was annoyed and threatened to sue the restaurant. They spoiled all my friend’s special day and also disappointed a lot of guests that I had invited.

The manager pacified me and sincerely apologized for the mistakes. He even yelled at his staff. In the end they asked me not to pay for anything as it was an inconvenience caused by them. My friend, I and the guest departed the restaurant and celebrated her birthday elsewhere. It was a major disappointment for all of us.

Topic: Describe something you were disappointed about.

Sample Answer:

Everyone in their lives gets disappointed one way or the other. I myself have been disappointed a couple of times. Today I would like to talk about such an incident. It was about a year when I booked a birthday cake from a fancy bakery in town. Although expensive I loved this place as the cakes were delicious, they were prompt with the delivery. It was far better than other bakeries in town that were mostly disordered and had no process for the delivery or taking orders.

I ordered a photo cake for my 5-year old nephew. I had ordered it for about a week and gave them specific instructions on where to deliver the cake. I handed them a beautiful photo of my nephew for the cake.

On the day of his birthday, the cake didn’t get delivered in time. We waited for an hour for the cake. When the delivery person arrived I couldn't bear to look at this person. Dressed up in shabby clothes, he was intoxicated and smoking at the time. I was furious and asked why he was late. He replied with a sorry and went his way.

When I opened the cake they had pasted the wrong photo on the cake. I was utterly disappointed by the experience. We obviously had to use the same cake to save the situation. I later called the bakery, yelled at them and asked for a refund. It was the most messy experience I have ever had.
