Topic: Describe a time when you received an unexpected gift.

Sample Answer:

I love receiving gifts, especially the ones that are completely unexpected. About months ago I received an unexpected gift at my home address. The package did not have a name on it so I could find out who had sent the gift. When I opened the package it was the latest iphone. I was pleased to see the gift as I had been wondering about the phone for months. It was a sheer fluke that I had gotten the phone I had been thinking about for months. I initially thought that it might have been a coincidence or a mistake and the gift may be addressed to someone else. The package didn’t have any address or my name. I enquired with a shipping company, but they told me that it had been sent at the right address. It was my birthday, so I immediately called my parents, friends and anyone I knew to find out who had sent the gift. Everyone refused that they had not sent the gift. I was even more curious after knowing this. After a couple of days, my childhood called me. It had been ages since I had not been in touch with her. She had not come to my birthday party as well. After chatting for a while she told me that she had sent the gift. I was shocked and happy at the same time, as I wanted to buy the phone for a long time. It was a serendipitous moment. I had not expected my friend to attend my birthday party as she was in a different country, let alone present me with such an unexpected gift.

Topic: Write about a place where you stayed for a short period of time

Sample Answer:

It was about a year ago when coincidently I got an opportunity to go to one of the most beautiful places in Northern India. Since my childhood I had stayed in Delhi, but always wanted to visit the places in the Himalayas. Fortunately, I got a chance to visit Himachal Pradesh for a week for some project work. My other team members were also hoping for a chance. But luckily, I got an opportunity to visit Himachal. I wouldn’t call it a fluke as I had worked very hard for this project. Also, as I always wanted to visit the Himalayas, I would say I had gotten lucky.

My office work was in Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. I stayed in Shimla for a couple of days. Fortunately, I had completed my work in two day, so I had plenty of time to look around the places in Shimla. Shimla was undoubtedly breathtaking. It was my good luck that I had gotten an accommodation in Hotel Holiday Homes that had some beautiful views of the city. Waking up to the beautiful view of mountains was a sight for sore eyes. I visited the Mall Road, Kufri, and Fagu. I also bought some souvenirs for my friends and family. I also visited the famous church at the Mall road. Unlike the ordinally malls, the mall road in Shimla was constructed during the British Colonial rule. It was a common hang out point here for the tourists as well as the localities. I loved the local shops and the eateries here. There were several eateries that offered local cuisine. I devoured the local dishes with relish. From the local cuisine to the hospitality of people, I loved everything about this small town.
