IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic

Topic: While some people prefer to have pets, others do think that it is cost-intensive. Write your view regarding the above.

Sample Answer:

It is a prevalent belief that in our day-to-day life pets have become a part of our family. They are kept and treated similarly to a family member. Apart from the considerable number of benefits that a pet owner brings to society but also reaffirms the fact that animals indeed bring a certain change in life both mentally and physically.

The stress and anxieties of contemporary lifestyles are the results of extreme overworks which is immensely time-taking as well. Adopting a pet can be viewed as therapeutic for many. They help us to reduce our blood pressure and ameliorate the stress after a tiring day. Multiple studies have restated that having a pet strengthens the immune system and provokes in children enthusiasm for learning.

Along with ownership and companionship, also come responsibilities. The incognizance of an animal’s need for touch, feeding, and frequent walks is a common problem these days. Moreover, owning a pet is quite cost-intensive along with regular medical check-ups and special diet requirements.

Describe a time that you and your friend had a disagreement.

You should say:

  • When this happened
  • Who you disagreed with
  • What you and your friend argued about
  • and if you two solved the disagreement in the end.

Sample Answer:

This summer I had a disagreement with my best friend about a trip that we planned to go to. It was right after the final term of her university. We planned to visit a Pondicherry for about a week. The disagreement occurred with Nili's proposal to visit Kerela while I selected to travel to Chennai.

Nili had her reasons about her preference for Kerala but I wanted to visit Pondicherry due to the place’s serenity and tranquility. We argued a lot regarding the above. I also tried to reaffirm her but she seemed quite determined to go to Kerela. After an hour’s dispute, and disagreement I told her that I would not come to Kerala. My friend insisted that we should have an unusual tour and an unfamiliar experience from this tour. She reiterated the plan of Kerala. I got frustrated and left her place.

After coming to my place I realized that it was a trivial matter to fight upon. Then I reasserted that we shall go to Kerela. I texted her the next day morning and asked her to meet me in the evening. So, finally, the plan for Kerela was reaffirmed.
