In recent times, society has undergone rapid proliferation of various measures that are aimed at prevention of victimization. This is followed by an escalation of debate over its advantages and setbacks. According to me, this approach is a growth towards fear of crime and not the exact levels. The propagation of anti-crime devices, to some extent, is responsible for boosting or escalating fear of crime that has a deteriorating impact on an individual’s quality of life. Crimes might be centered upon a particular aspect, however, the fear might spread increasingly and spread across communities impacting the lives of nearly every resident. The major harmful impact associated with this aspect can be highlighted as restriction towards an individual’s freedom and invasion of their privacy.

There are several measures that can be adapted with respect to limiting the spread of crimes, however at times they yield inappropriate results. For example, when it’s dark outside, thunder and lightning might create a devastating impact and propagate a fear in them. However, the same situation might be a proliferation of peace to some. There are several benefits of self-protective measures such as ownership of licensed guns and martial arts training. However, these personal defense equipment at times might be too complicated to use or turn out to be less effective than expected.
