IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic

Topic: It is neither possible nor useful for a country to provide university places for a high proportion of young people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer:

It is not easy for a country to provide entry to tertiary education for all young people. The first reason is the prohibitive tuition fees and the inability to afford them. College or university undergraduates are supposed to learn from experiments. Purchase of excessive costly materials during a term is one most important factor in the fields of study like engineering or medical. Students from rural areas find it tough to meet only the annual tuition fees, especially in poverty-stricken countries. The annual fees for these students are sky-high. This leads to the second reason for which the government is restraining the university places for a high proportion of people. The government has other priorities such as universal education and a health care system to invest in.

It also does not seem useful for the whole country. If the state wishes to accommodate the youth with higher education, there is no guarantee that students will become successful and will contribute to the well-being of their nation after finishing their education. There are concerns regarding students not clearing the exam or even dropping out in between courses. These outrageous decisions and results will affect the investment of the government and students will become a burden of the state.

In conclusion, not only is it possible for a country to provide university places for a high proportion of young people, it is also not useful when it comes to the outcome.

Topic: Describe an Amusement park you have visited recently.

Sample Answer:

It has been my dream to visit one of the best Amusement parks in the world which is Disneyland, Hong Kong. My parents were prohibitive of this and hence, I could not visit during my childhood. My parents always thought that it was excessively costly to visit such places and hence, restrained my visit. Last week, I had a chance to visit Disneyland in HongKong and I took my parents with me. They were very happy. We stayed there for 2 days as it was a token of appreciation from my office. It was an all expense trip to HongKong. The park consists of seven themed areas: Main Street U.S.A., Fantasyland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, and Toy Story Land. When we visited, the entry to the Grizzly Gulch section was restrictive due to some work going on. Me and my parents visited all other 6 theme parks in a span of 2 days and we stayed at the resort in the disney land itself. It was one of the best and the most memorable experiences that I had till date in my life.
