Topic: Too much money is wasted on repairing old buildings that should be used to knock them down and build new ones.

Sample Answer:

People today think that commemorating an old building for the ethnicity of a country or state is fine until it exhausts the capital in the maintenance of it. They prefer modern infrastructure as it is less cost-effective as well as new to the aesthetics. People also claim that instead of using larger capital to upkeep older buildings that should be invested in building and more practical infrastructures.

A very good example of this would be in cities that have developed substantially in the last half century such as Kolkata, India. Kolkata has maintained the old heritage buildings of kings and also the later buildings made during the British colonization. Rapid economic development must be celebrated. As it helps to keep intact both pre and post-Colonial architecture. Old buildings serve to support and preserve the irreplaceable cultural identity of a city.

Sample Answer:

The entire globe has been through different historical events since the beginning of human evolution. I would like to commemorate the historical event of 13th April 1919. The JallianWala Bagh Massacre in Punjab, India. It has been quite a bizarre incident and has changed the course of history to a great extent.

The JallianWala Bagh Massacre also known as the Massacre of Amritsar, wherein the British troops fired on a large crowd of unarmed Indians in an open space. In this incident, several hundred people were killed and wounded. It commemorated a turning moment in India’s modern history, in that it left an enduring scar on Indo-British relations.

Remembering this act would recall the widespread anger and discontent among Indians. Gandhi called for a one-day strike throughout the country. Indian anger grew as news of the killing and successive British actions spread throughout India.

In modern India, the Jallianwala Bagh spot in Amritsar is now kept as a national monument.
