Meaning: Something that is clear, logical and easy to understand.
Synonyms: Decipherable, clear, articulate, comprehensible, understandable

Sentence 1: His essay was not coherent and hence he was asked to rewrite it.
Sentence 2: The government did not give a coherent picture of the bill and thus many opposed it.
Sentence 3: The company needed a coherent strategy to increase its profit.
Sentence 4: Whenever he speaks, his sentences do not come out in a coherent manner.
Sentence 5: The story did not have a coherent plot.

Topic: How important is cohesion in any piece of writing? Write your views on it.

Sample Answer:

Cohesion refers to the flow. In any piece of writing how well an idea flows from one to the next smoothly and comprehensibly. If the ideas are not clearly blending from one to another, the piece of writing will fail to perform its purpose. Words can be linked together by using linkage words like this, these, it etc can be used for adding cohesion in the writing. However, one needs to be careful with the use of such words as an excess of it can even give a tough time to decipher the writing. Cohesion can be improved in writing by taking feedback from experts. An essay that has plenty of good ideas in it but is lacking flow can be difficult to understand by the readers. It acts as a glue that sticks the whole essay together and helps the reader follow the main ideas in it. It improves the overall readability as the thoughts are articulated concisely thereby giving an overall enjoyable reading experience. In my opinion, every good writing must have coherence as well as cohesion in it so that readers are not lost while reading.

Topic: Describe a subject that you found difficult to understand in school.

Sample Answer:

School time was the best time of my life majorly because I had a lot of friends. I wasn’t a very studious child so my only motivation to go to school was my friends. When it came to the subjects, I managed to do just okay in all the subjects but there was one subject which I was unable to understand no matter how hard I tried. The subject was Mathematics. I always dreaded that subject and when I was promoted to class 6, that was when I couldn’t comprehend even a word written in the book. Looking at my condition, my mother got me help from tutors but eventually, even they gave up on me. Even in school, the teacher used conventional ways to teach the subject. Questions were written on the blackboard after the formula was discussed and students were asked to solve the questions. My Maths teacher was from the south of India, so as a child, I found it difficult to decipher his language. Although he tried his best to articulate his ideas and thoughts by choosing the best words, I struggled in his class. Due to some reasons, he had to leave the school and a new teacher was hired. In his first-class itself, he taught the topic so coherently that it aroused my interest in the subject. I started finding the subject interesting. HIs method of teaching was activity-based and the conveying of ideas were clear too. I thoroughly enjoyed his class and all thanks to him that I scored the highest marks in the subject.
