Topic: Political parties use every means to gain the support of people during elections. To what extent do you agree?

Sample Answer:

Political parties make every possible effort to win the election. This includes canvassing the support of people by winning their trust and assuring them that they are in safe hands. When the elections are near, political parties make a lot of effort to organise campaigns. This includes going to the extent of using unfair means too. Time and again, it has come in the news that political parties have misused the government facilities and officials by the ruling parties. Sometimes even funds are tampered with to solicit votes. Common people do not know much about the ugly face of politics. For them, every candidate who is aspiring to hold political power is a ray of hope. Many parties have been reported in the cases of inclusion of false names and exclusion of genuine names from the voter’s list so that the final result is in the favour of the political party. They consult the commoners and win their trust by bribing them. Poor people fail to realise that a few thousand rupees will not solve their problem, what they need is an electioneer who is honest and thinks for the well being of the people. Intimidating voters and rigging on the day of polling is the most dreadful way to win an election. Booth capturing has its own space in the history of the country. Several influential candidates are ready to go to any extent to win the elections which are driven solely by self-interest but the welfare of the country. In my opinion, this is the reality and political parties make use of such unjust ways to gain support.

Topic: Describe a leader or politician whom you admire.

Sample Answer:

Many political figures in the country have done some remarkable work for the growth of the country. One such politician that I admire the most is the current Prime Minister of the country India, Narendra Damodardas Modi. Born in 1950, in not a rich or influential family, he grew up to assist his father in selling tea. His journey from there to the current Prime Ministerial position of the country cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs. He joined RSS when he was just eight years hints at how he already had some idea for his future career. The most admiring thing about him that I find is the way he addresses the people to solicit votes during BJP’s electoral campaigns. His words are raw, brutally honest and he sways the crows with his sassiness. When he was competing for the PM candidature, the speeches that he gave played a vital role in making him an electioneer to Prime Minister. His oratory skills are commendable and it is proved by the popularity he had gained over time. NRIs and even citizens of the USA would become excited to get a glimpse of the country’s PM suggesting the mass appeal he has not just within the border but globally as well. Another admirable trait is that he always finds a way to consult the people of the country, take their opinion and then decides to come up with laws or plans that could benefit the masses. In a time when polls can be easily manipulated and the subjects are easily forgotten after winning the election, Modi has ensured to care for the people of his country. In my opinion, we need more such leaders who are diligent, hard-working and possess the ability to transform adversity into an opportunity.
