IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic

Topic: Talk about a time when you had to make a difficult choice.

Sample Answer:

The most difficult decision that I have been subjected to is opting for a university to pursue my dream course. It was when I was eighteen years old, and I was ambivalent about my career decision. I have always been unsure about academic and career decisions. I chose to pursue Merchant Navy as my career, however, I was uncertain if I would be able to keep up with the academics. Being equivocal about this career choice, I decided to sit for the entrance exams. After 25 days of appearing for the exam, results were declared and I was selected for joining the Naval academy. However, I was doubtful if I would be able to continue my studies, and after discussions with my family, I opted out from joining the naval academy. That potential period was challenging for me and left me in an inconclusive state of mind. Neglecting my uncertain nature, I decided to pursue hospitality management as a career option. I would like to thank my friends and family for what I’m today. They have always been supportive and helped me fight my equivocal nature.

Topic: Nature of decision making approach of human beings

Sample Answer:

Decision making approach of individuals requires critical thinking. Decision making is an act of being comfortable with self-drive choices. However, the decision making approach of human beings becomes challenging due to their ambivalent nature. The inconclusive nature of individuals establishes a scenario that highlights a lack of appropriate plan of action. Nevertheless, a solution to the equivocal nature of human beings is to have enough time for conflicting statements to disentangle. An uncertain nature of individuals leads to conflicting views as an alternating or vacillating approach within themselves. Being an equivocal individual involves portrayal of inclinations towards something that is responsible for contradicting each other. Ambivalent nature of human beings hinders the perspectives of individuals. Moreover, the nature of an individual can be addressed to be uncertain when they tend to disagree on common subjects. For example, if you are to support a government’s initiative based on some welfare programs but at the same time, you oppose it for different means. This adds up as an equivocal nature of an individual.
