Topic: Transportation Speaking Part 1

Question 1: What is your preferred mode of transport? Why?

Answer: I usually prefer two-wheelers while traveling. I believe that two-wheelers like bikes and scooters are very easy vehicles and extremely convenient. Their range and maintenance cost is also quite reasonable. Most people used bikes or scooters since they are affordable for most people across the country. In contemporary times, these bikes and scooters are available in wide varieties in different shapes for men and women especially making it more comfortable for different people to ride.

Vocabulary:

  • contemporary: living or occurring at the same time.

Question 2: How regularly do you use public transport?

Answer: I usually take public transport when I have to travel far away from my home. It is not very usual but once or twice in 3 months. I sometimes use public transport to go to markets. Generally, markets also have very busy streets so moving there by private vehicle is quite impossible. Therefore, I prefer public transport during such peak hours. Hence, taking public transport once in a while by me contribute to saving gasoline and causing less pollution.

Vocabulary:

  • Peak hours – busiest hours/rush hours

Question 3: What is the estimated amount of time you spend traveling daily?

Answer: I usually travel to my university from my place. It takes three to four hours for me to go to the university. I go to the university three times a week. I generally avoid traveling on the weekends because weekends witness complex traffic jams and I don’t prefer it. I hate traffic the most since it cost me time.

Vocabulary:

  • traffic – vehicles moving on a public highway

Question 4: Do you prefer trains to buses?

Answer: Yes, I prefer trains over buses for long distances. Trains are cheap and comfortable and also take lesser time. They are also a smooth ride with washroom and dinner facilities inside. We do not need to go out to the washroom. Rather buses are more exhausting and expensive simultaneously.

Question 5: Which mode of transport will be gaining popularity?

Answer: Although as mentioned earlier I trust trains more for long distances but for short distances I will prefer buses more. Because new types of state buses are being developed that provide convenient seats along with affordable tickets. More likely, short distances could be easily covered by buses. Another feature that could be added to its praise is its capacity to carry a large number of people simultaneously. Therefore, its increasing demands contemporarily seem that in the future it will be the most preferable mode of transport.
