Chocolate IELTS Speaking Part 1

Question 1. Do you prefer Sweets or Chocolates?

Answer: Yes, I do like them both. However, I'd choose chocolate over sweets. In India, it is customary to offer sweets to the gods before the start of any ceremony. It is therefore not just me. Sweets lovers can be found almost everywhere in the country.

Vocabulary:

  • customary – ritual 

Question 2. How frequently do you try chocolate?

Answer:  Normally once a month. Actually, I am unable to count them because it is not a typical occurrence. I occasionally eat them on occasion or when a friend gives me something. On some days when I'm craving something, I also get one.

Vocabulary:

  • craving – extreme desire to have something

Question 3. Is chocolate popular in your country?

Answer: Very popular. You can see chocolates in almost any shop selling groceries, or sweets. You can always find chocolate wrappers in the dustbin. A trend is developing nowadays to gift chocolate at festivals. Chocolate consumption is quite popular for a long time now, and it is getting even more popular with time.

Vocabulary:

  • Groceries – household items of daily use including food items, cleaners, etc.
  • Even more – further; more than before

Question 4. Do you count giving chocolates as a gift?

Answer: Yes, but not all the time. They are affordable, their packaging is good and most important is that it shows the warmth in a relationship.

Vocabulary:

  • Affordable – cheap; having less cost; cost within the pocket of the customer
  • Warmth in a relationship – friendliness in a relation; closeness among people

Question 5. Is chocolate safe for your health?

Answer: According to some medical researchers, chocolates can be good for health. Many have stated that chocolates are good for the heart. Also, their bitter tendency is good for diabetic people. But excess of anything is bad, and the same is in this case. Excess consumption may lead to the decay of teeth.

Vocabulary:

  • Good for heart – providing health to the heart
  • bitter – a type of taste (of that of Bitter gourd)
  • decay – erosion; corrosion

Question 6. Which is your preferred chocolate?

Answer: My ultimate favourite is dark chocolate over any other kind solely because of its bittersweet taste. It has a really hard taste, and does not stick much like that of chocolates like “Dairy Milk Silk”.

Vocabulary: 

  • bittersweet – bitterness along with the sweetness
  • over any other kind – above that of others
