Topic – Holiday Speaking Part 1

Question 1. What do you do in your holidays?

Answer: Most of the time, I like to spend my vacation time with my family and close friends, but occasionally I like to experience new things, like admiring the wonders of nature or savouring the calming wind in the mountains. Or, over the holidays, I'll binge-watch all of my favourite TV shows.

Vocabulary: 

  • admiring – to like someone or something 
  • savouring – to taste
  • binge-watch – watch multiple episodes of a show

Question 2. Who do you usually spend holidays with?

Answer:  Typically, it depends on the holiday. For instance, if it's Christmas, I'd prefer to spend the day with my family and close friends; if it's New Year's Eve, I'd prefer to celebrate with my friends at a party. But if it's a weekend holiday, I'd rather use the time to get a good night's sleep.

Question 3. How do you prefer to travel?

Answer: I like to go on group trips. I can build stronger bonds and better relationships with my friends when I travel with them. Another factor is the fact that group travel is more affordable and safer than going it alone. But I usually like to go on short trips by myself because it gives me time to reflect and is more relaxing.

Question 4. How holiday is important for you?

Answer: Holidays are generally enjoyed by the majority of people, including myself. It's the ideal moment to feel revitalised and let go of all your concerns about work and school. Holidays enable me to unwind mentally so that I can approach work the following day with renewed energy.

  • revitalised​ – to pursue something with new life and vitality
  • unwind – relax after a period of work or tension

Question 5. What is your favourite holiday destination?

Answer: Hill stations are the most favoured destination besides beaches. I can relax my mind and take in the scenery thanks to the peaceful winds on the hills, the brisk air, and the silence. Trekking is the best thing about hill towns. Reflexes and muscle movement are aided.
