Topic – Food IELTS Speaking Part 1

Question 1. What is your most preferred food?

Answer: I adore Indian food, but Bengali and Punjabi cuisine are my favourites because of the robust flavour of the spices and the richness of the food. My favourites include chole-bhature and biryani made in the style of Kolkata.

Vocabulary: 

  • adore – to adore or love someone
  • robust – strong and healthy

Question 2. Which particular food you don’t like at all?

AnswerIt's true that I dislike some of the foods from that cuisine. For instance, I dislike the smell of fish very much, especially the smell of sea fish. Even though I adore fishing, there are times when I simply cannot stand the smell of seafood.

Question 3. What is the most popular food in your country?

Answer: In my home country of India, the majority of people consume rice, rotis, or both, along with spicily spiced dal and vegetables. The majority of Indians eat vegetarian food, however, in other regions, like Bengal, seafood from Kerala is particularly popular. People are primarily crazy about street food, including panipuri, rolls, ice cream, burgers, street biryani, cutlets, and chops, among other items. In India, junk food is very popular, and each state's street food is unique from the others due to the various spices and flavors.

Question 4. Which meal of the day is the most important one according to you?

Answer: According to me, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast is a meal that helps you freshen and provides you with energy for the day. Thus, I believe that one should have food filled with nutrition and high in calories to give a kickstart to their day. This will help ensure appropriate metabolism of the body.

  • metabolism – is the process by which the body changes food and drink into energy

Question 5. What about trying new food?

AnswerI have tasted a number of cuisines until now. I’d love to explore more. I believe the kind of food served by people from different parts of the globe portrays their culture and their food eating patterns. 

Question 6. Do you like cooking? (why?/why not?)

Answer: Yes, I like cooking very much. I started loving cooking when I watched a cooking show on television. Now, I have learned to cook many types of Indian dishes from cooking shows as well as from the cooking channels on YouTube.
