Topic: Flowers Speaking Part 1

Question 1. Do you like flowers? (Why) 

AnswerYes, I have been fond of flowers since I was a child. It gives me a sense of joy when I see a blooming flower. A bloomed flower shows the beauty of nature. I have a garden and in that garden, I have a number of flowers which I enjoy watching tremendously. I always make sure that I take care of the flowers as they are the ones that give me a feeling of pleasure and their presence makes me happy. 

Vocabulary:

  • fond: having affection or liking for
  • pleasure: a feeling of satisfaction and enjoyment 

Question 2. Which/What is your favourite flower?

AnswerOne of my most favoured flowers for me is Lillies. According to me the most beautiful and peaceful flowers among the group of Lillies are the white Lillies. Lillies are considered to be a symbol of love and peace. I feel lilies are unconventional flowers which can be used for decoration purposes in marriage. 

Vocabulary:

  • Unconventional: not based on what is generally believed or done 

Question 3. Do you think flowers are important?

Answer: Flowers are addressed to be a symbolic sign by few of the individuals. For me, flowers are significant because they enhance the beauty and tranquilly of the natural world. I believe that more flowers should be planted since they have the power to brighten a space.

  • significant: sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention

Question 4. Are flowers important in your culture?

AnswerYes, flowers hold a very special place in my culture. In my culture, decorations for special occasions typically consist of flowers. Important flowers include the lotus, hibiscus, and others. Additionally, many plant components with medicinal uses, like basil leaves, are significant in my culture.

  • Medicinal: something which has healing properties 

Question 5. Do people in your country use flowers for special occasions?

AnswerYes, the flower is considered to be a daily necessity in our country. Flowers are utilised on occasions from weddings to funerals. Flowers are considered to be symbolic representatives of best wishes and condolences

Vocabulary:

  • Condolence: expression of sympathy on the occasion of the death of someone. 

Question 6. What do you think are the common occasions when people generally give or receive flowers?

AnswerWedding is considered one of the auspicious occasions in which people exchange flowers as a well-wisher for the upcoming future. Other occasions that are celebrated with the help of exchanging flowers are; anniversaries, birthdays etc.

  • auspicious: conducive to success

Question 7. In your country, Is flowers considered a gift?

Answer Yes, flowers are considered a gift in my country on various occasions. From festivals to weddings and even birthdays, flowers are considered a wonderful gift. 

Question 8. When was the last time you gave flowers to someone?

Answer Three months ago, I went to visit my friend for her birthday and I gave her a watch and her favourite flower, white rose.
