Answer: Old buildings have a historical heritage value attached to them. Hence, preserving old buildings is necessary. Most of the old buildings represent a cultural heritage and hence, preservation is a must. There are some old buildings that do not represent culture or heritage. In my opinion, those can be demolished. 

Answer: Present and past buildings have benefits of their own. Present buildings offer amenities needed for comfortable living. We can get a luxurious lifestyle by investing a lot of money in the present buildings. They mostly are well-furnished and buyers don’t need to spend extra money on them. On the contrary, these buildings emit a lot of harmful and toxic wastes in their construction which is hazardous to the environment.

Answer: I think the government should spend money on preservation depending on the value of the building. Eventually, if the building has some heritage value, it must be preserved by the government. This will also bring more people as tourists. If tourism is increased, then the income generated can be used for the maintenance of the building.

Answer: Buildings should be attractive to look at as they add to the aesthetics of the place. For example, the Taj Mahal is not only a heritage monument but also a beautiful marble mausoleum that makes it one of the seven wonders of the world. In modern days, the architecture of the buildings has changed but the attractiveness is no less. The buildings in certain countries like Bhutan are so unique and stunning.

Answer: In today’s life, I mostly see tall apartments with multiple flats in them. The city is usually congested due to the increasing number of people. This in turn gets more buildings and apartments to live in. There are also plush bungalows but that is lesser in number. Most people house the apartments.

Answer: I feel that there is a difference in the thought process and opinion of the older generation and the younger generation. While the old people think that ancient buildings were more beautiful as compared to current times. They speak about them fondly. Primarily this could be because of the generation gap. While young ones prefer luxury, old ones are overly attached to the architectural style of their times.

Answer: Old buildings offer multiple advantages. They were built with thicker walls and the quality of the bricks was better. This helps to keep the heat out of the room making it much cooler. They not only offer a peaceful ambiance but also act as cultural and historical artifacts for us to learn more about our past. When we get more knowledge about our ancestors, we get a fair idea of how far we have evolved. For the same reason, old buildings are visited by many people making them popular tourist spots. Consequently, they generate income.

Answer: In recent times, most of the buildings are built keeping in mind the limited space that is available. To accommodate a larger number of people while using less space is what an architect keeps in mind. This is the reason why skyscrapers are a popular construction choice. Unlike finicky designs of old buildings, modern designs are simpler and more uniform. The construction material that is used nowadays has changed greatly as the cost has skyrocketed.

Answer: In my opinion, a good quality building should be made of materials that would allow it to stand the test of time. Good building materials like concrete, steel, and glass must be used to build the apartment. It should be spacious and must have cross ventilation. Even though the cost might get a bit high but the quality must not be compromised when building a good apartment.

Answer: Yes. I have recently visited the Taj Mahal. I was mesmerized by its beauty. It is built from white marble and has Islamic calligraphy all over it. Built-in the memory of Shah Jahan’s beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal, the Taj is an eternal testament to the artistic and scientific accomplishment of a wealthy empire.
