Photography Speaking Part 1

Photography Speaking Part 1 talks about questions related to photographs and more. In this topic candidates are asked to answer few questions. These include do you like photographs, what are the situations in which you like to take photos, how often do you take photos, etc.  

IELTS Speaking Part 1 consists of an introductory section where candidates are asked questions on personal details, family, friends and work. In IELTS Speaking candidates need to speak for 4-5 minutes in this section. Candidates' speaking abilities are assessed based on this section considering their grammar and vocabulary in English language.

Topic: Photography Speaking Part 1

Question 1: Do you like taking photographs?

Answer: I love taking photographs since it is a nice way to capture that particular moment. Photographs serve as memories that can be cherished throughout. Photos help us cherish the person or the place that is way too far. Photograph will remind us how memorable a moment was. As a traveler, I always take photos and it is a great way to share experiences with others.

Vocabulary:

  • memorable-a thought that is special 

Question 2: What are the situations in which you like to take photos?

Answer: I like to take photos in any situation, be it special or ordinary. While traveling, I like to take snaps of everything that feels remarkable. Taking a photo of the sunrise and the sunset is one of my favorites. Nature photography fills me with great joy and I cannot express my happiness when I get a mesmerizing snap. I also love to capture the flow of rivers, mountains, trees, and wildlife. 

Vocabulary:

  • remarkable-worthy of being noticed 
  • mesmerizing- beautiful

Question 3: What do you prefer to send your near and dear ones? Postcards or photos you took? (Why?)

Answer: I like to send the photo I took to near and dear ones. People have different likings and choices. So I can send photos to friends and family as per their choice or in groups. Postcards won't give me this advantage. Plus, I think the people I send the photos to can connect to the photos I send to them. It’s not that I don’t like sending postcards but I feel more comfortable and confident while sending the photos I took. Also, I will not get postcards where I have clicked the image.

Question 4: How often do you take photos?

Answer: Taking photos is my hobby. I like taking photos every day and whenever I go out on trips. I like taking selfies and I often snap a few selfies just because I don’t have anything to do. If there is something special, the number of snaps increases. When I travel, I simply take tons of photos.

Vocabulary:

  • selfies- taking one own photo

Question 5: Do you prefer to take photographs of yourself or you like to have others to take your photos?

Answer: I like to take photos myself because I have complete faith in my photography skills. I am quite picky and do not easily trust others while taking photographs. In my mind, I have the feeling that people may spoil or damage the photo – so I believe taking my photo is safer.

Vocabulary:

  • spoil- destroyed 

Question 6: Are there any photos on the walls of your house?

Answer: Yes, I have multiple photos on the walls of my home. These photographs consist of the best photos that I have taken so far. I can connect emotionally with them. I have decorated a portion of the wall of one side of my bedroom with these pictures. Plus, in my drawing room, I have photos with my parents, friends, and pet.

Question 7: Do you prefer to take pictures of people or scenery?

Answer: I like to take photos of the scenery and then people. I am much addicted to nature photography and honestly speaking nature never fails to amaze me. I like taking pictures of people as well but I get a choice, I would like to capture scenery.

Question 8: How do you keep your photos?

Answer: I store my photos on iCloud! I also have a hard disk where I store all the photos as a backup. I’m grateful for the technology that allows me to store my photos. Moreover, I post photos on my social media profiles like Facebook and Instagram from where I can view these later.

Question 8: Do you keep your photographs on your computer?

Answer: I do not keep my photos on the computer since they might crash anytime. Also, they have limited space to store photos. I store them on a seperate hard disk and on iCloud.

Question 9: Do you frame any of your photos?

Answer: Yes, I have made a collage frame as well! Not too often but I love to frame photos and see that in front of my eyes.
