What is IELTS UKVI? 

The UK has a special requirement for the English language test that candidates need to take if they are planning to go to the United Kingdom. IELTS UKVI is an IELTS test for the United Kingdom visa and immigration purposes. IELTS for UKVI is only valid for the United Kingdom and has no major point of difference from the normal IELTS test. This test is in the list of Secure English Language tests approved by the UK.

IELTS for UKVI stands for International English Language Testing System for UK visa and immigration. The IELTS General training is relatively easier than the academic IELTS training, as the general training only includes the vocabulary and the topics which are covered in day-to-day lives. The reading and writing tests are also easier compared to the IELTS academic.

So, if candidates want to apply for a work visa, spouse visa, entrepreneur visa, then candidates should apply for the IELTS general training test.

Is IELTS Necessary if you want to Live in the United Kingdom?

If a person is applying for a visa as a migrant to the United Kingdom, then taking the IELTS test or IELTS life skill test is compulsory in support of their visa application. To check the minimum IELTS eligibility score, a person needs to contact the UK Visa and Immigration Application center.

Is IELTS Necessary if you Want to Study in the United Kingdom?

In case candidates are applying to a British University for a postgraduate degree or undergraduate degree, it is compulsory to take an IELTS test. They need to check the minimum eligibility IELTS score required by contacting the university students are applying to. All the major UK universities accept the academic UKVI scores. It is recommended to check that the institution that one is applying for is considered as an HTS (Highly Trusted Sponsor) by the UK visa and immigration departments.

Candidates can check this by contacting the HTS or by simply asking about the institution whether they are an HTS or not. This is a very important and critical factor in support of their UK visa application.

How Often is the IELTS for the UKVI Test? 

The number of times the IELTS test is offered is different depending upon where in the world candidates are. They can check this by the nearest IELTS test center and can ask them how often they are offering the IELTS test. It can be once per month or twice per month. But if the candidates pass the test once, then they will not be allowed to retake the same level exam for 2 years.

How Many Times can you take the IELTS Test for UKVI? 

There is no restriction regarding the number of times candidates can take the IELTS test but make sure that before taking the test they are fully–prepared and have practiced a lot. Candidates should be full – prepared for all the four tests that will need to be given while giving the IELTS exam, which includes a IELTS reading test, a listening test, a speaking test, and a writing test.

In What Ways is the IELTS Exam for UKVI Different? 

There is no difference between IELTS and UKVI, that is the IELTS exam for UK visa and immigration purposes. It is the same exam, the same layout, the same content, the same scoring, the same difficulty level, and the same style of questions that will be asked.

The exam is the same but the report you will get for the UKVI exam will be slightly different from the normal IELTS exam, but this is nothing to worry about as this is only for the UK Visa and Immigration department purposes. The difference in the test report form (TRF) then students can get is that on the test report it will be mentioned that they have taken IELTS for UKVI and they can only take IELTS for UKVI only in UKVI approved centers.

A unique SELT reference number is used in IELTS UKVI TRF and this number is not present in the normal IELTS report.
