In today’s world, childhood obesity has become one of the major problems in terms of children’s health. The increasing rate of overweight among children and adults has become a health issue in almost all the countries at present and the percentage of overweight children increases by 20% in many countries. Obesity amongst children can be attributed to two factors- junk food and lack of exercise. The main reason for this is poor diet or junk food. Nowadays, children eat a lot of junk food like pizza, burgers, noodles, etc. which increases weight or fats in the body. Along with this, processed food like cheese, ready-made meals, cake, etc. is very unhealthy and this calorie diet is making children obese. At the later age of life, they are more likely to suffer from chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problem, etc. because of what they have consumed earlier.
Milk, fruits, and juice can replace this type of junk food. Over-weight children can be tortured or bullied which affects their mental health like stress, anxiety, and insomnia. It means obesity leads to mental health issues as well.
Nowadays, children do not give much time to outdoor activities, which also makes children obese these days. They are over-weight, unhealthy, unfit to play or to do any physical exercise. Their sedentary lifestyle is a direct reason behind their obesity – throughout the day, they watch television and play video games on computers. They simply don’t have any outdoor physical activity because of technological advancement.
Parents, government, and schools by encouraging children to do physical exercises and give healthy food, which helps them to maintain a healthy diet, can resolve this issue. Parents can take their children to the park to encourage playing with friends, the government can limit junk food advertisements and schools can add sports in their curriculum to maintain physical fitness in students.
In the conclusion, it can be said that unhealthy food and lack of exercise are the main cause of obesity among children. Childhood obesity happens to be one of the most health problems among the children in the western world. But, it can be prevented by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and adding some healthy habits in children’s daily life.
Band 8 IELTS Essay
Children that are overweight are becoming more prevalent all around the world, particularly in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Children's obesity has emerged as one of the most pressing worldwide health issues in recent years. The primary reasons of childhood obesity will be discussed in the following paragraphs, along with some doable treatments.
Children's obesity is brought on by a variety of causes. Genetic problems that are handed down through generations are one of the primary reasons. Consequently, the tendency for these families' children to be overweight or obese (redundant). Additionally, unhealthy family eating habits, such as selecting foods with a high sugar and fat content rather than healthier alternatives, might have an impact on children's obesity. Additionally, youngsters these days spend a lot of time watching TV or using their iPads, which results in a lack of physical activity. They wind up spending more time sitting down in front of a gadget than moving around or doing physical activities.
Children must participate in specific activities to address this issue and prevent being overweight or obese. First and foremost, nutritious food alternatives for kids should be provided, and they should be assisted in developing good eating habits. Foods that are unhealthy, such as nuggets, ice cream, or cake, should only be eaten seldom. Second, as they are the major caregivers, parents should provide a positive example for their children at the dinner table. This will encourage them to mimic their excellent eating habits. Additionally, parents should set/schedule regular physical activity, either indoors or outdoors, based on the ages of their children, and restrict screen time.
In conclusion, eating junk food is a major contributor to childhood obesity. In order to combat juvenile obesity on a long-term basis, parents should give their kids a variety of nutrient-rich food alternatives and encourage good eating habits.
Band 6 IELTS Essay
Young people who are overweight are creating serious problems on several continents. This essay will go into detail about the causes, effects, and recommendations for preventing child weight growth. This unhealthy weight is due to a number of things. First off, children are less likely to leave the house and play because of the advancement of technology and devices like smartphones and Playstations. Additionally, children are forced to play sedentary games like computer games by working parents and nuclear families due to a lack of time or attention.
Additionally, eating junk food can be a significant contributor. Another significant factor contributing to this situation is the notion that important disciplines like science and math are essential for children's futures. For instance, research from the WHO indicates that more than 50% of children with health difficulties spend the majority of their playtime in front of electronic devices rather than on a traditional playground. Having a rare condition at a young age has a fundamental impact on weight gain. In addition, this trend will have an adverse effect on bone health, brain development, and many other things. Moreover, there is a greater likelihood that the younger generation will not be interested in playground games, which will lower the number of Olympic athletes that each nation used to send. The supply chain system could be destroyed by putting more effort into science courses.
Although there are many reasons that contribute to this situation, some restrictions on the curriculum for students may help. Additionally, establishing a tax on junk food may help to limit consumption. Parental control apps for mobile devices may also help to alleviate the problem.
