IDP Takes Over British Council India’s IELTS for £130 million

IDP is one of the top Australian education service companies with a noticeable existence in India is firmly to acquire British Council’s India IELTS business for £130 million. The IELTS exam in India is presently conducted by both IDP and British Council. Earlier candidates aiming to take the IELTS exam can select from either IDP or British Council as their test center. But with the change in ownership, candidates in India would be authored by IDP alone. It has also been added that the employees of the British Council will be shifted to the IDP team. Kate Ewart-Biggs, the interim CEO of the British Council stated earlier that allocating IELTS solely through IDP in India will facilitate and improve the consumer experience for applicants.

Impact on Students

It will be very soon that IELTS in India will only be conducted through IDP only. Candidates will only be able to book IELTS test centers of IDP throughout India. Most of the candidates take the IELTS exam to prove their English proficiency skills through reading, writing, speaking, and reading. A very big benefit of this sale is, the applicants will have their trust and confidence in the test they know. There will be no change in their faith in the IELTS exam. Well, as for now there is no price changes or hike, but it is a possibility that there would be a hike in IELTS exam fees in near future.

There will be a change in the candidature number. The IDP team will reach out to every candidate to confirm their new login particulars. 

Will the Change Make the IELTS Difficult?

There is no clear news from the IDP team about any change in the format of the exam. Candidates are doubtful whether the new change will make the exam easier or make it more difficult. People believe that the new change will not bring any service interruptions. Though there are questions regarding IDP that might restrict their jobs as representatives promoting global education. IELTS test centers will be available through IDP in all the major cities and locations all over India. The test locations under the British Council will be rebranded as IDP IELTS.
