Read the Passage to Answer the Following Questions
Nonimmigrants in Some countries, such as student visa holders or B1(visit for pleasure) visa holders, must have an Employment Approval Document (EAD) to be employed in the country. The EAD is provided by the National Citizenship and Immigration Services (NSAIS). The citizens, permanent residents, and employees authorised to work for foreign employers need NOT apply for EAD.
The EAD can be renewed for those already having the work permit. A procedure has to be followed for renewal of the EAD or replacement of a misplaced or lost EAD.
How to apply for EAD:
Apart from the set of documents you would have included to file your application, the work permit process requires mandatory submission of certain documents. The documents include the following:
An exclusive application form which has to be collected from the embassy.
A copy of the form E-766, which is the Application for Employment Authorization.
A cover letter explaining the reason(s) for seeking a job in the country must be included. Also, mention details of earlier visits to Some Country in the cover letter.
2 passport size photographs(must be identical)
Authenticated statements establishing the economic status of the applicant. These are required to identify and sort as per financial slabs announced by policy.
For asylum seekers in the country, the form of asylum (A-919), either approved by the NSAIS or an immigration judge.
Visa fee is currently fixed at $ 230. Digital payment is mandatory.
The above-mentioned documents may be handed personally to the embassy,
sent by courier or via email. If sent via courier, please mention your contact address and contact number for return, if required.
After a thorough scrutiny of the file, the applicant will be informed by phone, SMS, or via email. The decision to grant a work visa rests entirely with the relevant authority. In case of deferred action, a $75 fee will have to be paid for further biometric tests.
Questions 22-27
Do the following Statements agree with the information given in the Reading Passage?
Choose
TRUE, if the statement agrees with the information
FALSE, if the statement contradicts the information
NOT GIVEN, if there is no information on this
Answer: TRUE
Supporting Sentence: The Citizens, permanent residents, and employees authorised to work for foreign employers need not apply for EAD.
Keyword : permanent, resident
Keyword Location: Paragraph 1, 5th line
Explanation: EAD in the passage means Employment Approval Document which needs to be applied if someone wants to work in the country, so it constitutes permission to work. The passage as pointed out in the supporting sentence states that permanent residents do not need to apply for EAD. It means they don’t require permission to work. Hence, the Statement that permanent and temporary residents in some country do not require permission to work is true.
Answer: NOT GIVEN
Explanation: No justified information was found in the above passage to support this statement. Hence, the above statement can be concluded as an invalid one.
Answer: NOT GIVEN
Explanation: No pertinent information was found in the above passage to support this statement. Hence, it is easy to recognize the statement to be an invalid one..
Answer: TRUE
Supporting Sentence: Authenticated statements establishing the economic status of the applicant. These are required to identify and sort as per financial slabs announced by policy.
Keyword : economic status, applicant
Keyword Location: Paragraph 8, 1st & 2nd line
Explanation: It is to be first understood that the financial status talked about in the question is synonymous with economic status. Now, it is true that financial/economic status of an individual is a must. It is because the passage asks for authenticated statements on such financial/economic status of the applicant. Also, this financial status is required to place the applicant in a suitable category is also true. It is so as in the passage it is stated that these statements regarding economic status are required to identify and sort the applicant. This is equal to placing the applicant and this sorting is done as per financial slabs announced by policy which forms part of suitable category in this case. So, the financial status of an applicant is required to place them in a suitable category.
Answer: TRUE
Supporting Sentence: Visa fee is currently fixed at $230. Digital payment is mandatory.
Keyword : Digital payment, mandatory
Keyword Location: Paragraph 10, 1st & 2nd line
Explanation: Digital payment includes payment Credit Cards, Debit Cards, or other kinds of electronic transfers as listed in the question. So, the supporting sentence talks about the Visa fee being $230. In the same context the mention of mandatory digital payments is made in which this digital payment is related to Visa fee. Since digital payment is mandatory the fee can only be paid through digital payment methods which include Credit Cards, Debit cards, or electronic transfers. Hence, it is true that the fee can be paid through Credit Cards, Debit cards, or electronic transfers only.
Answer: FALSE
Supporting Sentence: The above-mentioned documents may be handed personally to the embassy, sent by courier or via email.
Keyword : personally, embassy, documents
Keyword Location: Paragraph 11, 1st & 2nd line
Explanation: The statement that the Embassy doesn’t entertain manual submission of documents may be handed personally to the embassy. These documents can be sent by courier or via email. Now, e-mail might not be a way of manual submission of documents. Although, the courier certainly is because it requires the applicant to compile documents in their physical form and then send them to the embassy. Another argument in favour of manual submission would be that documents may be handed personally. The sending of documents through courier or handing them personally are good examples of manual submission. So, the Embassy does entertain manual submission of documents.
