Band 8 IELTS Answer

The diagram given shows how a central heating system in a house works.

As shown in the figure, the central heating machine includes several mechanical aspects, forming a complex system. According to the diagram shown, a supply of cold water is required for the operation of the central heating machine. This water flows into a storage tank and an overflow pipe is used to store excess water in the storage tank. The water passes through a boiler that runs on gas or oil and has a pump connected to it. The radiator is connected to the boiler and consists of small tubes. When the cold water passes through the pump and boiler, the temperature reaches °C and it becomes hot water. Residents of the house draw hot water from the faucet.

In this way, the entire system that wraps around the house keeps it warm. To summarize, central heating primarily works by running water through your home to increase its temperature.

Band 7.5 IELTS Answer

The following diagram shows how a central heating system works in a typical home to maintain the indoor environment and tap water at a set temperature.

This process goes through two phases, starting from a transition state and reaching a steady state. During the transition phase, the main goal is to fill the heater plumbing circuit with water. First, cold water is taken from a local water supplier and passed through a boiler, which is a device that exchanges energy between burned fuel (gas or oil) and water. This liquid is then pumped through several pipes and a radiator device, exchanging the temperature of the flowing liquid with the air inside your home. Finally, the water returns to the boiler. The amount of water taken from the supply network will be a constant amount according to the technical design. This step is repeated continuously until the water reaches the desired temperature.

Once the system rches the set temperature, i.e. the water flows into the sink, and once the pressure is high enough again, the water is sent to the replacement water tank to act as a water reserve in case of service interruption.

Band 7 IELTS Answer

This diagram provides an overview of a domestic central heating system. Tanks, boilers and pipes ensure an uninterrupted supply of hot water to both radiators and taps; this demonstrates the operational importance these elements hold in maintaining a constant flow. The house receives and stores cold water in a rooftop tank. The water, proceeding from there, directs its flow to a boiler positioned on the house's first floor. A boiler runs on gas or oil and heats the water flowing through it. Then, a system of pipes pumps the hot water throughout the house and into radiators situated in different rooms. Small tubes within the radiators actively disperse heat by circulating water, thereby warming each room. Your faucet receives a supply of hot water, derived partially from this allocation.

The system recirculates the water: after passing through pipes and radiators, it returns to the boiler for reheating; subsequently, this heated water is redistributed throughout the house.
