Model Answer 1

Question: Where are you from?

Answer: I am from the city of Joy, kolkata. It is the capital city of West Bengal.

Can you say something about your hometown?

Answer: I was born and brought up in Kolkata and much of my upbringing has been favored by the people I grew up around. Kolkata is a metropolitan and a developed city. It was planned after the partition and hence it is unseemingly organized. Many places like colleges, hospitals, and shopping junctures are located notoriously far away. Being the capital of West bengal, it has the best infrastructure and education opportunities and is said to be the hotspot for college students.

Vocabulary:

  • upbringing-the way a child is raised
  • favored-show approval or preference
  • opportunities-circumstances that make it possible

Question: What do you think are the improvements required to be done in your hometown?

Answer: We can definitely improve in public transportation and road conditions. The only way you can economically move from one place to another is the bus. Metro does not travel to every nook and corner of the city. We can also subsidize public utility goods such as water/electricity and provide affordable housing to lakhs of below poverty citizens. There have been a lot of Bollywood shooting ventures in the city, and hence, developing a film city here will grant employment to thousands. It will also add to the cultural relevance of this city. There is a shortage of technological companies. Kolkata can also bring in IT companies, so most of its engineering students who have to move out after completing their education can settle in West Bengal itself.

Vocabulary:

  • economically-involves careful use of resources
  • subsidize-part of the cost of producing
  • affordable-inexpensive
  • cultural relevance-understanding, and responsiveness to the beliefs, values, customs, and institutions

Question: When did you go out with your friends the last time?

Answer: My friends and I went to Babughat last weekend. It is an incredible place just besides the Ganges with a lot of public value. It is based far from the hassle of the city and presents a calm atmosphere for people to relax in. The drive takes up to an hour from my home, but it is worth it because the ambiance at Babughat cannot be matched.

Vocabulary:

  • incredible-difficult to believe
  • hassle-inconvenience
  • ambiance-atmosphere of a place

Question: Do you prefer going out alone or with your friends?

Answer: I am fortunate to have incredible friends and I love going out with them. I definitely prefer their company. But Kolkata is an incredibly safe city and I don't mind travelling alone, even at night. Known as the City of Joy, Kolkata has tons of tourist spots. There are places of historical significance also. I love hanging out at each of them.

Vocabulary:

  • tourist spots-a place that people visit for pleasure and interest
  • hanging out-to spend a lot of time in a place or with someone
