Band 8 IELTS Essay
Happiness is a state of mind where one feels satisfied, joyful, and fulfilled. It includes positive emotion and life satisfaction. The source of happiness varies but the result is always the same. Everyone, no matter what route they follow, in the end, wants to lead a happy life. There are a few physical and psychological factors that play an important role in attaining happiness. This essay will look at those factors and attempt to answer why it is difficult to define happiness.
One can find happiness in earning more money, another can find happiness in doing charity. While some find happiness in pursuing their passion, others find happiness in the small things that life provides. There are people who find happiness in staying healthy. It is all about relativity. If someone is not well physically, they will find happiness in good health. If someone is not satisfied with their income, they will be happy when they earn a lot of money. What constitutes happiness cannot be the same for every individual. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to define happiness. For example, one might find happiness when he or she is indulged in creating artwork, on the contrary, another person can find it when he or she admires that artwork. Hence, the definition and the psychology of happiness is a vast ocean.
Happiness might mean different for different people. However, there are a few common factors that help to achieve happiness. The most important are the physical factors that include the health of an individual. While achieving happiness, good health can act as a catalyst to accelerate the process. Psychological factors include the state of mind of a person. While one may be extremely happy with his or her status at work, others might not be. This corresponds mostly to the psyche of the individual. To some, the constant flow of money brings mental peace, others find spending the amount they earn as the ultimate source of happiness.
To conclude, happiness cannot be measured by using a scale. It is abstract and different people get happiness from different thingss. I believe that a sound body and a sound mind are extremely important for anyone to follow the path that leads to happiness.
Band 6 IELTS Essay
Happiness is an important emotion that cannot be defined universally as it varies for each and every individual. While some may value helping others as a source of happiness, others may say that gaining financial independence is happiness. In this essay, I am going to discuss what constitutes happiness and why it is so difficult to come to a single definition of it.
Although the term happiness sounds like a simple emotion on the surface, it is indeed a complex emotion. While some may feel happy by accumulating materialistic things, others may feel happiness while seeking companionship. It varies from person to person. For example, when I asked a child what makes him happy, he responded that ice creams make him happy. Similarly, when I asked the same question to an old man who was in his 80s, he responded that watching his family laugh and smile together makes him happy. This made me conclude that happiness is the result of years of experience one has. While a child doesn’t understand the importance of family, an old man does. Alternatively, it can be viewed as the way a child perceives happiness is that it lies in the little things that life offers.
No matter what brings happiness to a person, it is certain that happiness makes the person feel good. When we are spending time with our loved ones, we feel happy and a sense of gratitude overflows. When we can pay off our rent with our hard-earned money, we feel independent and strong. It is a deeper emotion than just a good mood.
To conclude, it makes an indispensable part of everybody’s life and people have different ways to feel it. It is a pleasant feeling that makes us feel satiated for a longer period.
Band 7 IELTS Essay
We live in a world where everyone is looking for means to feel the emotion of happiness. It is a psychological concept that involves positive emotions such as joy, peace, enthusiasm, and a sense of involvement. It is difficult to determine what exactly constitutes this joy or brings peace and triggers enthusiasm in individuals. However, several aspects of a person’s life can help him or her feel jubilant.
Every individual is unique, and so is their definition or source of happiness. While some may find happiness in everyday routine, others may find it mundane and can only feel jubilant when they divert from the ordinary everyday. For example, going to work, and spending the day without much stress or workload can make one feel happy while others can feel happy after they return home and do the things they love which can be cooking, playing an instrument, painting, or anything that energizes them. Therefore, coming to one particular definition of happiness cannot stand true as every person has his or her interpretation of happiness.
There are three fundamental elements of happiness. These are the emotional, social, and emotional conceptions. The emotional component causes a positive emotional state while the social component leads to widespread and positive social relationships with others. The cognitive component causes the individual to interpret everyday events with optimism. All three components are extremely important to feel happiness completely.
To conclude, while happiness may be personal to everyone, the essential elements of it are universal. To care for people around us, maintain a healthy and positive outlook, feel the right emotions in the apt scenario, and look forward to every day with fervor and energy are at the core of living a happy life.
