Globalisation Affects the World’s Economies IELTS Writing Task 22 consists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprises two parts: Introduction and body. The introduction is a brief description about the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to support the test-taker's perspective.
IELTS writing task 2 evaluates candidates based on the knowledge and views they have expressed. The areas that candidates are assessed on are grammar, vocabulary, and style. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. The band scores range from 0 to 9. Topic: Even though globalisation affects the world’s economies in a very positive way, its negative sides should not be forgotten.

Humans have been known to create alliances for their benefit. They have endeavoured to reach faraway places to create, live and trade. This has resulted in globalisation which is the growing interdependence of the world’s economies, integration and culture thereby creating a united global world. This essay will discuss the positive and negative aspects of globalisation.

While globalisation has exposed one country to the other, the resources of every country can now reach the other thereby improving the economy of the countries. For example, the iPhone manufactured by Apple, an American company, has reached almost every country, thereby adding to the economy of the USA. Similarly, other goods from the country have traversed the border thereby increasing the GDP of the country. Foreign direct investments have brought a change in the status of so many countries which otherwise were struggling to mark their global presence.

Globalisation on the contrary also has some limitations. Since the expansion on the global level requires skilled human resources, many people find themselves unemployed. The rate of unemployment is increasing day by day and it will not be incorrect to say that globalisation is one of the causes. Globalisation only improves the living conditions of those who are highly skilled while those who are not, succumb to poverty. Consequently, it creates inequalities in society as the skilled people get rich while the unskilled remain impoverished.

To conclude, even though globalisation has brought commendable changes through direct investment and shared usage of resources, it also has impacted negatively by unintentionally promoting unemployment and inequality.

Globalisation has led to a revolutionary change worldwide. The opening of the gate for trade by the countries has resulted in the flourishing of countries. This essay will examine both the positive and the negative aspects of globalisation.

To start with, many nations have joined hands in globalisation as they could see the positive outweighs the negative. Any country is run by its economy and globalisation directly enhances the economy via trade. An increased economy would mean better infrastructure, healthcare, education and other essential services. For example, before globalisation, India had little growth in the field of technology but after it, the country is making a lot of profit from that sector.

Similarly, the quality of education was not better as it is now due to infrastructural development and accessibility to various resources which also comprises the use of ICT in the education sector.

However, globalisation has some disadvantages as well. When different countries are interdependent, issues, wars and conflicts emerge leading to loss of lives and economies. The issues can be easily resolved with diplomacy but some countries find glory in displaying their power. Common people are worse affected due to the wars. They lose their source of earning and eventually life as history has recorded mass-scale death of people during wars due to starvation.

To conclude, while globalisation strengthens the economy and allows the country to offer better living conditions to its people, it also can lead to loss of life and crashing of the economy if the countries indulge in bloodshed.

The issue of whether globalisation affects the countries, whether it is just positive or like any other thing, this too has a negative aspect, has long been a subject of debate. This essay will look at both aspects and attempt to find if the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Firstly, globalisation has extended the market. This means that domestic companies can go global. The companies that have the potential to offer good services to people have now the opportunity to cater to a larger audience. This of course increases the economy but also enables many domestic companies to become a global monster. For example, when McDonald’s was established in 1940, it offered drive-in service limited only to California, USA but now every city in every country has their outlet making them immensely popular. Secondly, with advancements in technology, companies can offer better services to their customers at affordable prices thereby gaining their trust by maintaining quality too.

Globalisation has some limitations as well. A trade deficit is one of its disadvantages which refers to the imbalance in the export and import ratio. Any country can suffer from that due to the demand and supply of products. Another drawback of globalisation is the environmental harm that it causes. The growth of industries has led to air, water and land pollution. Huge quantities of chemicals get released in nature which indirectly is consumed by humans and animals as well. This leads to deterioration in the health of the organism.

To conclude, while globalisation has offered an expansive opportunity to domestic companies and allows customers to buy products at an affordable rate, it has also led to the trade deficit and environmental degradation.
