A Friend has Agreed to Look after Your House and Pet while you are on Holiday IELTS Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. The letter follows a semi-formal approach. The candidate has to address the friend and give them contact details, instructions to care about your pet and household duties. It contains three model answers that have three paragraphs namely the introduction, body, and conclusion. The letter must be clear and to the point.

Band 7 IELTS Letter

Dear Jay,

I hope everything is going well for you and your family. Well, I just wanted to say thank you for volunteering to watch over my flat while I'm away for a conference in Japan the following week. Even though you have previously been at my home, I have a few things I'd like to share with you. Due to the bad network at Oasis Island, where I have my meetings, plus the fact that I will be absent for a week, I might not be available to answer calls.

You can still text me, though, as the office Wi-Fi might support it. You should get in touch with the Guard at room 159 in case of an emergency to get help right away. Dear Ema,

I am happy that you agreed to look after my house and pet for me. It was a tremendous help that you agreed to take up the responsibilities. I would like to thank you for that and inform you of some of the chores you should take care of. If you need to contact me for any reason during my holiday in Vizag, please ring my phone number. I’ve written the numbers on a sticky note which I’ve left on the fridge. Also, I’ll be staying in the ITC hotel, so I’ll provide you with the number of the reception. In case you are unable to contact me on my mobile phone then you can contact me there. Alternatively, you can message me on WhatsApp or Instagram.

My cat, Steffi, needs to be fed thrice daily so each morning, noon, and evening put a handful of cat food in her dish. Also, please check throughout the day to make sure he has fresh water. You can give her a small bowl of milk if you want. I also need you to water my plants every morning. The indoor ones can be watered on every alternative day but the plants on the balcony need regular water. I will be back in five days, so please stay until that. Lastly, for security, please ensure to close the door properly before going to bed.

I am pleased that you agreed to look after my house and pet for me. It was a huge help that you agreed to take up the commitments. I can't thank you sufficiently. To be honest, I was really hoping that you would respond to my request when I wrote you the letter. I understand that taking care of new things can be overworking.

If you need to reach me for anything while I am a call away. Additionally, you can message me on WhatsApp or Instagram. I was told by the hotel that I’ll be staying that uninterrupted network access is available there. My mobile phone, however, will remain switched off as I do not want to receive work calls which are my ultimate purpose for this holiday. As for Larry, the dog, he doesn't really need much care. Just ensure that he gets 4 meals a day at 5-8 hour intervals. Also, take him for the evening whenever possible so that he can play with the ball. A maid will be there for the household chores. She would do the household chores, and let her know what you want to eat. Also, please ensure to close the door properly before going to bed. Once again, I really value the help you are extending to me and hope to return the same sometime.
