Some People Believe That Exploration of Space Justifies a Large Amount of Government and Private Investment IELTS Writing Task 2 consists of three sample answers provided below. Band 8 IELTS Essay
Private companies and Governments across the world continue to invest a lot of money in exploring space but many people do not agree with this practice. As we know a coin has two sides, similarly people have valid arguments from both ends which we will be discussing in detail below.
The people who oppose outer space travel say that there are many priorities and burning issues like poverty, overpopulation and global warming. These are causing serious problems and should be solved first. The opponents of this idea also say that the smoke emitted in outer space through rockets can also lead to serious environmental issues. This can pose a problem for mankind. The examples of shuttle launches done recently are exemplified by them where a lot of fuel has been burnt. Further, a lot of debris and trash has been left in the space which cannot be cleaned.
Meanwhile, the other section thinks that space exploration is very important as it gives a chance for mankind’s survival in case of any major mishap. They also say that one can go to another solar system or planet only when there is space travel. The supporters also cite examples of discoveries which have been made in the past years with the help of advanced technology in outer space.
If we take an overall view, then the government and private companies are not doing anything wrong in funding space exploration. It has many benefits like increasing the livelihood of humans in case there is a major incident. The planet needs to be vacated, improving livelihood on earth and improving technological advancements. However, it is also not justified that we fund space programs and leave aside the other social welfare plans.
Band 7.5 IELTS Essay
There has been an argument for very long on the matter whether government and private companies should explore outer space or not. Some people opine that the money used for exploring outer space can be better utilised in taking care of other important matters in different areas. The funds need to be utilised in a proper manner which can provide better facilities to the public rather than going for space exploration. Although, there are many advantages to space exploration.
The advances in technology which have been made in recent times is all because of the exploration of space. There are many benefits of space exploration which can prove fruitful for humankind in the near future. One does not have to worry about where to go if this planet gets destroyed by a major hazard. If we look at the other side, there are many disadvantages of space exploration. The pollution emitted by space shuttles can prove to be a major environmental hazard. There should be more emphasis on improving the health, education and transport sectors so that there is an overall development of the country.
Instead of space exploration, more work should be done on the agricultural sector where harmful fertilisers negatively affect health. There should be healthy food for everyone so that people can stay fit and longevity of life can be increased.
On the whole, space exploration is a good area where government and private firms are spending money. But I believe that reckless spending on space exploration can lead to ignorance of other burning issues of the country which need to be addressed first. So, there should be a specific amount for this area.
Band 6 IELTS Essay
As we all know that government and private firms spend money on various schemes so that people can benefit from the same. However, there are some areas like space exploration where many people think that it is justified to spend money. While others think that there is no need to spend money on outer space and more emphasis should be given on other important issues. Here we will be discussing both points of view and try to understand which is the best option for us.
Space exploration is not justified. The reason behind this is that there is a lot of pollution caused when the space shuttles take off which ultimately leads to many environmental issues. There is no point in exploring outer space when we cannot save a person from dangerous diseases. Also, if a person is not educated how is he going to understand the importance of space exploration. Therefore, these two sectors need to be improved to a great level.
If we look at it from another angle, then we get to know that space exploration is very important for us. Accordingly, we get to understand that there is a life beyond space where we can go if anything happens to the existing planet. The experiments carried out as a result of space exploration help in an in-depth understanding of outer space.
The conclusion is that it is good that government and private firms are spending money on outer space. However, they should also understand that there are many other issues which also need to be addressed. Significantly, it should be done simultaneously so that there is an overall development of a nation.
