Band 8 IELTS Essay

Everyone benefits from exercise, but the aged particularly so. Many doctors recommend exercise for elderly patients. Many senior citizens disregard exercise recommendations from doctors. There are numerous variables that could be causing this problem. Their perception of viewing things differently may be one of the primary causes.

Many of them think that the younger generation originated the "trend" in question. Since they have spent the most of their lives focusing on traditions and values, they are resistant to change. Many people lack a basic understanding of exercise, yoga, and fitness concepts. A person's beliefs can have a significant impact on their lives, so having strong beliefs is essential for staying motivated in any endeavor.

A person's beliefs can have a significant impact on their life. Therefore having strong convictions and acting on them are necessary for motivation in any endeavor. If someone doesn't believe in something, it will be quite difficult for them to successfully incorporate it into their daily lives. Laziness is another significant factor to mention here. Despite all the benefits of exercising, most people only think about the work it takes to make it a habit. Being able to adjust to change is very difficult, particularly for those who are aging rapidly and are aware that they will never be younger. Campaigns that inform the public about exercise and assist them in dispelling any misconceptions or preconceptions about it may be the answer to this problem. Motivating others nearby first would be an additional helpful approach. We grow as a result of the environment around us changing. To feel socially acceptable, we conform to our environment or society. Older people's attitudes may change if they are made aware of how crucial exercise is to living longer. It can be quite beneficial to organize contests for them to motivate them to exercise. Competitions might give them a sense of vigor and vitality. All of these techniques may be helpful in enabling people to modify their way of life.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

Exercising relates to longevity, we all know that. But yet, many people in their old age choose to stay away from these physical activities even when recommended by doctors. There are multiple reasons that could lead to this point of view in their minds. The next two paragraphs consist of the possible reasons and solutions to this issue.

The major reason people do not exercise in old age is the fear of injury or bad physical condition of their bodies. The injuries that have happened to their bodies throughout their lives can make it difficult for them to exercise. Health conditions like arthritis can develop a fear of getting prone to more pain than gain in older people. Also, many people can’t afford a gym or trainers to make them follow a proper routine. Without appropriate guidance, a person can get injured and more sick than healthy. A coach or trainer is required to help people get guided throughout their workouts. Many aged people who can afford these deny spending their money on workouts as they consider it as a waste of money. They might consider others as spendthrifts while taking the concept of personal trainers under consideration. The solution to this can be provided by the government or the local area in charge. Providing free equipment in playgrounds can motivate the misers and it can help them maintain a healthy lifestyle as well. Retired individuals should be provided with equipment and trainers or any necessary aid for their health. The government can also benefit from this as the life expectancy of a country makes it more presidential than others. The more help the elders will receive to maintain a healthy lifestyle, the more progressive the society would become. It is also possible for the aged people to open up clubs for the older and aged people where they could hire trainers and professionals who would guide them through exercises. This would allow the club to particularly remain only for the aged and older.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

Exercising helps in recovering and reconditioning our whole body. It’s a fact that it increases life expectancy, yet, many old people refuse to adopt it even after the suggestion of their doctors. There are plenty of reasons why elderly people choose not to exercise. These reasons can include orthodox thinking, unawareness about exercising, previous health issues or conditions, beliefs, and psychological issues.

Orthodox thinking comes from the unawareness about exercising or beliefs that people have been following for generations. Many people expect women to nourish their families and hence when these women get older, they don’t know how to take care of themselves. A lot of the elderly are new to the concepts of yoga, gym, or exercising. They consider old methods of diet to be beneficial for their health and don’t believe the method suggested by doctors. Many people don’t even believe in doctors and they consider consultancy a waste of money and time. The others have been exposed to various health conditions that do not allow them to exercise at all. These can include arthritis, paralysis, etc. Many aged people feel unmotivated and don’t feel like they want to live. They could be depressed due to their issues and don’t know how to get out of it and they simply need the help of a third person to guide them through it. There are tons of reasons that can be added to these for which certain solutions can be considered. Well, the simple solution is to provide equipment and aid to the retired people through the government. The government can also provide help to these people in hospitals for their special needs when they have a physical injury and have to exercise to stay fit. Older people can sometimes get uncomfortable around young people and feel left out, so they can be provided specific areas in playgrounds or common residential areas to work out. They can also be provided with financial discounts on gyms and yoga groups to encourage them to stay fit and motivated. They can also be facilitated with psychological groups where they can release their mental burden. To live a healthy life physically, one needs to be mentally relaxed as well.
