Environmental Protection is The Responsibility of Politicians, Not Individuals As Individuals Can Do Too Little IELTS Writing Task 2 consists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprise of three parts: Introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction is a brief description of the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to support the test-taker's perspective.

Environmental sustainability is one of the most important concerns of today’s world. Our environment is degrading and collapsing. It has come to such a point where preservation is necessary. We as individuals should try to protect the environment. The impact might be less when we try as individuals. If any large group is involved, it creates a greater impact. This is possible when the leaders of the society are involved. The politicians whom we select with our votes have the power and the responsibility to protect the environment. If any leader is working towards protecting the environment, people who follow him will also work towards the same goal. This might involve thousands of people all together. This will create a huge impact on the environment. The politicians should understand that protecting the environment is the need of the moment. They should inform and instruct people to try and protect the environment. This message, if given by a leader of the society, will reach the masses. Individuals will not have such a huge impact on society. I believe that it is time for a change. We have polluted the world enough. The air pollution has reached its peak. The emissions from cars, bikes and factories are polluting the air. The waste products are polluting the land and water. This in turn is killing the plants and animals of our environment. This needs to be controlled. It is the responsibility of the politicians to initiate the movement as individuals can do very little alone. Politicians are powerful people in society. They can request the government to impose new rules, they can ask all the people of the society to follow some basic instructions while discarding the garbage. Making public transport better and an available option will reduce the pollution. These few steps will help to reduce the pollution we are causing to the environment. I feel that we as individuals will have lesser impact than as a group. Hence, politicians should be responsible to initiate the environmental protection which will include lots of people, having a greater impact.

The most alarming worldwide concern at the moment is Environmental protection. People assume that national regulations and government actions can safeguard the environment and they have nothing to contribute. In my opinion, Environmental protection is focused on resolving environmental challenges, and every single person can help to save the environment that we live in.We must not only depend on government policies. There are few practical steps that each individual may take to safeguard the environment. The most efficient method is Reduce, reuse, and recycle.We can reduce the amount of waste by not buying unnecessary products and plastics. We can also re-use these harmful elements by throwing them in different garbage bags provided. This will help in reusing the garbages and make other products out of them. Hence, one product can be reused multiple times, which will reduce the environmental pollution. Individuals can participate in cleanup drills as a volunteer. We can also educate others about the importance of our natural resources. Using solar energy rather than using fuels will help to reduce the air and land pollution. Greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced if we use the long lasting and power saving bulbs. Individuals can help in reducing the effect on the environment by planting trees. They can set up gardens on balconies and rooftops. This will help in reducing the air pollution level. We use multiple automobiles to travel. These vehicles emit a lot of hazardous gasses which can be reduced if people opt for public transport.
However, it is commonly believed that political leaders can enact laws and launch programs to increase the awareness among common people. However, to create an impact on every individual at the same time, a political leader or someone who holds the power to make an impact on the society is required. This will help in mass awareness which is necessary at the moment. I believe that individuals can also have an impact on reducing environmental pollution.

The most alarming concern for society today is the environment that they live in. The environment is getting polluted day by day and we are the ones who are polluting it. It is time that we take a step forward in protecting the environment and reducing pollution. I do believe that we, as individuals, can reduce the environmental pollution. Environmental pollution can be reduced if every individual focuses on it. These can be done by following very simple rules. People need to use only what is required. We can ban the use of plastics and carry biodegradable bags when we visit for shopping. This will help to reduce the land and water pollution. An individual uses basic amenities like fridge, TV, microwave, automobiles etc. These run on fuel and electricity. They also emit harmful gasses to the environment. If we can restrict the use of automobiles that run on fuel, we can contribute to saving the environment. We can use solar power to generate electricity. This is environmentally friendly and also does not harm the plants and animals. People can use transport provided by the government. For example, a bus can hold up to 50 people. If these 50 people use individual modes of transport to travel, the pollution will increase 50 times. Hence, we can reduce the pollution by using public transport. Individuals can plant trees on roadsides and their homes. The more trees, the less environmental pollution will happen. I do believe that an individual should be aware of the effects on the environment so that they can start saving it. This awareness can be spread in large amounts by the politicians or someone who is in power. The politicians have control over the society. They can also inform the governing body to amend laws that will help reduce the environmental pollution. However, this will not be possible if people, as individuals, do not follow and learn how to save the environment. We do not need to focus on spreading awareness and that can be done by the politicians. Hence, the politicians and the people of the society will have to work hand in hand to save the environment.
