Topic: Educating Young People is Naturally Important. However, some think governments ought to invest more on education for adults in need. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Education is one of the most important parts of our life which makes every individual efficient and knowledgeable. Irrespective of any age, class, sex or gender, people should b educated as it is naturally important. However, some people believe the government should invest more on adult education. I completely agree with this view because education has the ability to change people’s lives. In most of the developing countries and even in the developed nations, people lack proper education that has led them to face lack of job opportunities.

While education did not mean as much at one point of time, people realise its value in the present world. As a result, many adults now want to pursue and complete their education in order to have splendid job opportunities. As a result, it is important that the government should invest in adult education ensuring that they have adequate facilities to serve them. It is obviously not possible for the adults to go to regular schools that provide education. Accordingly, special adult schools need to be built and education facilities need to be set up for them where adults could enrol themselves. The timings for their class lectures could be either early mornings or night schools thereby allowing the adults to take up classes in their convenient time. It is essential to hire efficient teachers who would be comfortable in providing education to these adult groups. It is essential for the education board and authorities of the country providing adult education. This is to set up a grading system based on which their learning and knowledge would be assessed. This would help in analysing how the adult students are progressing. Moreover, it is essential that support groups are involved in creating awareness and providing ample support to the adult groups for their education. This is to ensure that students do not drop out of school at any given point of time. Thus, adults who want to pursue education should be provided with the opportunity and further effective resources and facilities by the government. This is to ensure they invest enough for their literacy.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

The importance of education in today’s world is known by all. While lack of education is a problem for a lot of the world’ population, people believe that adult education is needed. On the other hand, it is the youth or the younger population who are idealised to be more efficient for workplaces and are considered essential. In this scenario, investment in adult education separately might not be as beneficial as it may look like. One of the primary reasons to disagree with the prospect of adult education is that younger people are more associated with their studies than adults.

The adult population who might have dropped out of school at an early age have been disassociated with studies for a long time. In such a case, it might be difficult for the adults to further link themselves with education and be committed towards being educated. The youth on the other hand, would find it more convenient given their age and their ability to memorise and learn through educational language. Another reason that can be cited in the aspect of adult education is their lack of abilities at an older age to learn different subjects simultaneously. Significantly, it might be difficult for the adults to develop their cognitive skills in studies. For instance, it can be difficult learning about geometry on one hand and that about graphic designs on the other. Furthermore, the adults are anyway more concerned about how to deal with the everyday expenses, worrying about their children’s studies, etc. Studying in school would eventually become a more distant issue and handling the family expenses would become more important. Investment of their life years and their time in educating themselves is not something most adults might consider. This is unlike the youth who aspire higher education for better opportunities. These youth are younger than the adults and hence, can take the risk. Thus, I do not agree that any major investments need to be made by the government. This is because it is unlikely that the majority of the adult population would pursue and benefit from.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

While education is regarded as an essential criterion for people to have effective and highly paid jobs, it is also the technical knowledge that counts. Older populations who did not receive proper education nowaday want to educate themselves by pursuing night schools and adult literacy programmes. However, some people believe that the government ought to make their investments for the latter and I disagree with this view. My disagreement lies in the belief that the younger generation of the 21st century are more technologically equipped.

They have higher knowledge than the adults of the previous generation. The main reason for adult education is that adults might want to learn more technical subjects than general. This is because the demand for technical knowledge and practical expertise is what is demanded by today’s business which is imbibed within the younger population. The youth is no doubt considered to be the working population and the future of the world with their expert technological knowledge and expertise. Accordingly, spending of resources for the education of the younger population could seem more appropriate considering that they could engage in skill development. Several programmes authorised by different state or national governments focus more on how practical skills in using new age technologies could be fostered. Diverting from this view to enduring investments for adult education might not be quite productive for a country. Furthermore, it is possible for the younger population to learn and adapt to the new technologies and their utilisation faster and better than the adults. The adult generation has been quite slow in adapting to social media and a majority of them still do not have any idea of using it. In professional space, the cutting edge technologies, Artificial Intelligence, cloud technologies and services, etc have become prominent. These are the areas where the adult population needs to have gained thorough knowledge to use it while the younger generation are already experts. Hence, These youths are younger than the adults and hence, can take the risk. Thus, I do not agree that investing in enhancement of the existing skills of the young for higher productivity can be more beneficial than adult education.
