Band 8 IELTS Essay
People in the twenty-first century seek out places where they can find everything they require in one location. In order to relieve people's stress, supermarkets were created, which provide all of your essential needs in one location. Such supermarket chains or groceries are gradually becoming more prevalent, which is detrimental to small local companies. I'd like to start with all of the benefits that supermarkets offer in order to further support my argument. First off, shoppers can save time by visiting fewer stores because a range of items can be obtained under one roof.
Second, a variety of offers and promotions on various products are set up to assist the user in expanding their buying options. Thirdly, they collaborate with the producers, which lowers the price of various goods for the consumer. Although this list will continue, we should concentrate on the enormously detrimental effect it has on neighborhood businesses. A strong network basis has led to an expansion of supermarkets, which makes it harder for small business owners to compete. The local businessmen eventually close their shops or stores because they find it impossible to compete in the market. The requirements of those who depend on nearby stores will be overlooked during this process.
Supermarket development is still needed in many areas before their long-term aim can be realized and the broader population has access to supermarkets. Additionally, the dominance of groceries or networks of franchised outlets will increase, which will result in the exploitation of customers. If we consider the economic statistics of developing or poor countries, this circumstance would be risky. In order to make my point clear, the intrusion of stores should be restricted in order to preserve the independence of neighborhood businesses. Additionally, supermarkets and neighborhood shops have the same concepts. Although there is a slight difference between the two, supermarkets do not significantly influence peoples' preferences for luxury. Even while advancement in every area is positive, it should benefit the whole people of a certain area or nation.
Band 8.5 IELTS Essay
Industrialization and globalization in recent times have had a huge impact on society. The drastic change in the market condition leads to the overall development of the countries and negligence of local businesses. Almost every region is occupied by supermarkets which have an influence on small businesses to maintain quality.
There is a debate whether supermarkets have a negative or positive impact on society. The local business plays a significant role in the lives of many people as of now. Thus, building up a new supermarket will solve the purpose of a particular set of society, i.e, the rich class and upper-middle class. Keeping in mind the needs of the lower middle class and poor people, local stores play a big role. For instance, the local public will visit local stores or small vendors to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. On the other hand, the uneven distribution of supermarkets around a region does not solve the problem. This system only adds worries for the public as a local business will shut down and they have to struggle to distant places to get hold of day-to-day products. Perhaps, local stores are best for the provision of day-to-day products to the public. However, if the competition from supermarkets will continue to grow, ultimately a time will come when local stores need to get shut down. The rapid growth of supermarkets will soon lead to the occurrence of such a scenario. In this case, the needs of the lower middle class and poor people will be neglected with that by local or small businessmen. Apart from it, many distributors and retailers will see a downward fall leading to the exploitation of people at multiple levels. The logical conclusion for the given situation seems to be building up of supermarkets after tying up with local shops and stores. In such situations, the public will be attracted due to the participation of local businessmen and their credibility over the years. This will lead to profits for local businesses and owners of supermarkets in the long run with the satisfying purpose of providing goods to the consumers.
Band 9 IELTS Essay
Nowadays, a surge in supermarkets recent times has been observed by researchers. These recent trends have a positive effect on the country's economy, while small businesses find it difficult to survive in this competition. The evolving supermarkets pose a threat to existing local communities. Small business serves an important purpose in the lives of a major sector of a developing country. But, there is huge competition faced by the big retailers and online businesses.
However, the lack of traditional stores will create a severe impact on people dependent upon such stores. Since the network of such stores is widespread around the region, people consider them more reliable. Further, with the shift in market and convenience, people start adopting shopping from supermarkets. As the fact is not hidden that, the customer buying experience has waved highly. All the customers in supermarkets are pampered like children while giving them vast choices for a single product. The big supermarkets attract modern society and create a comfort zone for their shopping. Thus, supermarkets serve a significant role for the coming generation. Ultimately, if owners of supermarkets tie-up with local store owners then, both can make a good sum of money from it. On the other hand, the neglection of local stores and communities by big retailers and supermarkets leads to heavy losses for them. Although, instead of treating supermarkets as competition local businessmen should collaborate with them. This additional step on their part can change their fortune in long run. Perhaps, the entire system of provision of products to customers will be changed. Still, in many areas especially in the countryside and villages, there will be a lack of reliability in supermarkets. In such cases, only local stores would be a success. To conclude, certainly there is a tremendous growth of supermarket chains around the world. The impact of supermarkets on general consumers is great as they supply all needful things to them. However, there is no doubt that building up more supermarkets will lead to the closure of certain local stores and the owners will suffer a huge loss. Even the situation of the monopoly of supermarkets can arise.
