Describe Your Favourite Means of Transport Cue Card

How often do you use it?

I moved to New Delhi five years back. My primary reason to relocate to this city was that I got admission into the University of Delhi. The college I was allotted was in the north of Delhi and so I had to find a means of transportation as I lived in Noida.

Why do you use it?

I gathered information and got to know that the metro was the most convenient means of transportation for that route. It easily connected the north campus of the university and I almost travelled for three years in the metro. It was one of my most preferred modes of transportation primarily because of the comfort it offers, the scheduled departure and the lesser crowd.

Explain why is your favourite transport?

Safety is the utmost priority in the metro as security checking is top-notch. It took me a while to get used to the metro routes but after a year I easily remembered all the lines in the metro. I utilised my travel time in the metro by completing assignments or by reading some books. I even got to make a few friends on my way to college as they were university students as well. When I think of it, I feel grateful for such innovations that humankind have done to make their life easier and more comfortable. Even though I am working now, I still use the metro to meet my friends or relatives.

How often do you use it?

Cabs were not as easily hired as it is now due to the development of the internet and several applications. Now they are available with just one click on the mobile application. I find them as the most accessible means to travel as I do not know how to drive. Travelling by public transport consumes a lot of time and I am one such person who would rather pay a lot than waste time just travelling. Besides, cabs offer experienced and registered drivers.

Why do you use it?

The service is available twenty-four-seven, therefore I do not need to look at the watch before leaving for any place. I often make use of the cab service offered by Uber. They have prompt pick up and drop service. Cab service offers a lot of comforts which is not possible in public transport. I sometimes even take a nap on my way to someplace. The cab services like Ola and Uber have worked on their security and now the safety of the passenger is ensured with every ride.

Explain why is your favourite transport?

Over time, I have enjoyed so many cab rides and I was surprised to find some women drivers driving cabs in my city. I sometimes get to talk to them about their life and journey so far and they give so many insights that I enjoy my ride even more. I look forward to every ride that I plan.

How often do you use it?

Although sitting in a plane is an experience in itself, I used to think it is not pocket friendly. However, after travelling once, my thought process changed. I could feel the difference. While travelling from one state to another, a train takes days or 12-24hours but the same journey could be covered over just a few hours via aeroplane.

Why do you use it?

The ticket price for an AC1 coach on the train is almost the same as an air ticket but the time difference of the journey makes it all worth it. That saved time can be used constructively. The joy of flying is another advantage that one gets by using air transportation. I have interacted with people from different states and have got to learn so much about their culture.

Explain why is your favourite transport?

Travelling overseas has also caused a new trend of cultural exchange. I try to manage my journeys around a time when air tickets are at a discounted rate. The security that is offered in aeroplanes besides comfort is exemplary. I ensure to use the travel time by watching movies or reading movies. I enjoy my flight journeys and always look forward to the same.
