Model Answer 1

What it is?

I live in Mumbai with my parents. We share a flat which is in a society. I love the apartment because it is at 15th floor. The view from the balcony is amazing. We have many unique pieces of furniture in the flat as my mother is an interior designer. The most favourite of them is the indoor swing chair hanging on the huge balcony. The view of Mumbai and the sea from the balcony is one of the best that anyone can have. I love to sit on the chair and enjoy the view.

How it looks like?

The chair is made up of metal and hung on the balcony wall with a strong metal string. It has woven ropes which works as cushion on the chair’s rear. My mother has placed few pillows and hand supports on the chair to make it beautiful, comfortable and cozy. This chair is my morning seat where I spent the time having tea and reading books.

How often you use it?

At evening I sit on the chair everyday for my coffee, while watching the spectacular view of the city.  This chair is the favourite of many people including my friends and family. Whenever anyone visits, we sit on the balcony on the chair with pillows and have conversations. During winters I like to sit on the balcony, for a while with a cup of hot chocolate. I like this swing chair so much because it was gifted to me by my grandmother. I always told my grandmother how much I would like a swing chair, thus when I turned 12, she gifted it to me on my birthday. My grandmother is no longer with us, but I still adore the gift that she left behind. It reminds me of her and the conversations we had.

What it is?

Furniture pieces adorn our home space. There are so many types of furniture pieces available nowadays, that it is such a confusion while buying. Today, I would like to talk about my favourite furniture piece in my room. It is an antique cupboard that I bought from an online website. The website was authentic as I had verified it thoroughly. I have an innate love for them as each one of them has a story.

How it looks like?

The cupboard that I had bought was an elegant chocolate-colored piece, made up of Mahogany and had a perfect finish. It had four little drawers and four large compartments. It also had two open compartments at the side, which I used to store my books. Now, antiques are expensive, and I bought this one from the savings I had. I bought the cupboard for 80,000. It wasn't a rip-off as it was an original piece. I could have bought a cheaper one, however, my innate love for antiques wouldn't let me. The cupboard was 5 feet tall, and it wasn't made in India. The cupboard had been shipped from Britain. Georgian furniture was dated between 1760 to 1800 and looked beautiful once polished.

How often you use it?

I store my clothes, books, and all the essential items in this cupboard as it is spacious enough. I have other small cupboards as well, but this one matches perfectly with the decor of the room. As it is from the Georgian time, the furniture has a certain elegance and finish to it, making it a perfect addition to the decor of my room. It certainly is a wonderful piece and a perfect adjunct to the other pieces of types of furniture in my room.

What it is?

Recently, I started living in an apartment with my friends. We decorated our flat with various types of furniture. Some of these are purely utilitarian purposes, while some are aesthetic. As I have to talk about only one piece of furniture that I love, it would be my dressing cabinet/ wardrobe.

How it looks like?

This dressing cabinet in my room was moderate in size, had 5 drawers and two cabinets. I bought it two months back from Urban Ladder. I usually buy my furniture from Urban Ladder as it has beautifully designed types of furniture. Like all other daily-use dressing cabinets, I kept all my clothes, essential items, etc., in this. I liked this cabinet as it had a small space for important documents and other personal belongings. I had this carved-out small space custom-made. I wanted to store my personal belongings, such as my diary, important documents, jewellery, etc., so I had asked a carpenter to design the space without disturbing the wardrobe's aesthetic look.

How often you use it?

It took me about 20,000 to get it done, but in the end, I believe it was worth it. The space was designed behind the back wall of the wardrobe. I had it done for security reasons. The design was a necessity, and the carpenter had done wonders. It had somehow become a favourite furniture piece of mine firstly, due to the aesthetic look and secondly due to the custom design. Additionally, it blends well with the decor and helps me keep my belongings in a secure and organised way.
