Model Answer 1

What was the stressful situation?

People’s behaviour depends on the situation they are exposed to. When there is a situation where everyone is tensed, the thing that I personally try to maintain is staying calm and working on setting things in a righteous way. The reason I prefer to stay calm is because when I’m stress I commit mistakes that I regret later. While I was in school, my geography teacher shortlisted subject presentations that were to be presented in schools.

Only a small group of us had to present, and after the presentation the rest of the class was free to ask questions. We had 10 to 12 days to study each subject. I chose this topic because there are many issues the world is currently facing as a result of climate change. I began to feel ill after a few days of researching my chosen topic. When the doctor informed me of my poor health, I became anxious because I had a presentation to prepare and had not yet started any of my work. Until I was fully recovered, I was unable to prepare anything.

How did I get through it?

I went to the doctor since I couldn't perform any of the activities and I was also losing my appetite. My body temperature was found to be 103 degrees celsius as the doctor took the reading. The doctor advised me to rest and not exert myself too much while also prescribing a few medications. I had to recover my health over the course of about 8–9 days. There were only a couple of days until my final presentation, and I hadn't even begun the research.

How did it affect you?

I was going to tell my teacher that I would be able to present when I started to feel apprehensive and panicked. I eventually calmed down, stopped freaking out, and got to work on the study. I spent approximately a day researching because I knew that once I had the information, I could quickly make the ppt. I completed the research, and the next morning I began creating my powerpoint. I was a little anxious the day of the presentation, but to my surprise, I did a thorough and assured presentation. The students also had some inquiries, to which I provided clarification and answers. My teacher gave me full marks for both my ppt and the presentation because she was impressed with it.

What was the stressful situation?

It happened about a year ago when I registered for an IEEE conference with a few of my pals. For nearly two years, we prepared for our topic to be presented, and after it was finally chosen, we received a call to present at the IEEE conference. As a result, we had posted a topic about electrical vehicles. The idea that the subject would be chosen and that we would be asked to give a presentation had never occurred to me. We had invested a lot of time and energy on the subject. Bangalore phoned us for our presentation. There were hundreds of speakers waiting to talk on their particular topics. I felt a little nervous at first but as I saw others giving the presentation I felt at ease.

How did I get through it?

I always faced stressful situations and according to me we all face situations like this in normal everyday lives. I meditate everyday and make myself comfortable with stressful situations. Meditation helped me breathe normally in all stressful situations because breathing rate increases our blood pressure. This might result in panic attacks and anxiety attacks. I went through it by motivating myself and making myself breath normally and get relaxed. I started watching my friends and watching others presenting with confidence made me confident and to perform at ease. I was stressed and panicked but I was sure that I had prepared well and I would perform well too. I started preparing for whatever I have learnt for the presentation.

How did it affect you?

At first when I started the presentation I was blabbering the words so fast and my voice was cracking but when I saw the audience sitting in front of me was actually interested in listening to what I was saying, I started getting relaxed and gave my best. I performed enthusiastically and with confidence. There was always a fear that the audience might laugh at my presentation or they might not understand what I was saying. But the fear went away when I started speaking. There was a huge applause after we finished the presentation and I felt more confident and happy.

What was the stressful situation?

I was a music student in my tenth grade year. In another city, there was a music competition set up for the Western Singing pupils. I was chosen for the solo western singing competition by my music teacher. I became quite enthusiastic about the chance I found. I began looking for the song that would be the best fit for the contest. Finally, I talked with my teacher about the song I had chosen. I began to practise both at home and during school hours. I planned what I would wear because I had to dress according to western culture. I handled all of the planning. But ok the music competition day when i went in front of the judges and a huge number of audience. I started panicking and I got stressed which made my hands shake and sweat.

How did I get through it?

When I started getting stressed and my hands started shaking in front of the Mike while the instruments were getting ready I started taking deep breaths. I started ignoring the fear of the audience and I started remembering all the hand work I did to get to that point. I remembered what it meant for me to stand at that platform in front of music listeners and judges. When the music started I started singing and all the stress and panic went away. I sang like a bird free of fear and it felt there was just me and no one else.

How did it affect you?

This situation made me realize that if I get stressed and do not face the situation, all the opportunities coming my way will pass away and I won't be able to get benefitted from it. The moment I started singing I was lost in the music and lost in the melody. The audience was enjoying it and the judges smiled. When I finished the song there was a huge applause which made me even more confident and happy. My hands weren't shaking anymore and I was smiling broadly. I finally won the second position in the competition. I learnt to tackle such stressful situations and I learnt to deal with my own fear.
