Describe an Unpleasant Job You Did Cue Card

When you did it?

I wanted to be a teacher and hence applied to a school. I met all the requirements except they were looking for experienced teachers. Hence, I joined this school as a volunteer. I volunteered as a result of wanting to obtain teaching experience. 

Why did you find it unpleasant?

The experience was not good at all. I had not enjoyed even a day. It lot of things that I didn’t enjoy or like. The first issue was the behavior of the teachers. I had heard teachers doing body shaming, and making racist or sexist remarks in the name of jokes. The second thing was the infrastructure. The building was gloomy and not at all airy. The classrooms were very small and congested. The playground was small and it was waterlogged.

How you felt about it?

As a result, I decided to focus on my work only and when I finally finished my one year, I was overjoyed because I knew I was eligible to attend the school of my choice. So there was my job experience, but not a good one.

When you did it?

I started working right after I finished my graduation. Working in a BPO does not require a high degree of education; in fact, high school grads may be accepted. However, anyone interested in working for a BPO must have strong verbal communication abilities in English. Patience is another vital skill to have when working in this field.

Why did you find it unpleasant?

Personally, I don’t like or wish to work in a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing). It is a commercial activity in which large corporations enter into agreements with smaller businesses to provide specific services to its clients. One of the most popular types of services provided by the majority of BPOs is answering client calls to resolve service-related problems or file a complaint.

How you felt about it?

The major reason I prefer not to work for a BPO is that handling upset client calls is an essential part of the job. Callers will not pay attention to you. They are free to use any type of nasty language they choose, and we must adhere to a stringent code of behavior and remain calm. Furthermore, they anticipate a quick resolution to their problems. No matter how well-trained or experienced we are, frustration eventually sets in. This type of profession, in my opinion, can cause mental health issues as well as affect the quality of one’s personal life. Many people I know have quit their BPO employment due to the high levels of stress they faced on a daily basis.

To summarize, this job, like any other, has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. BPOs could become ideal workplaces if customers’ attitudes toward service providers changed, but I doubt this will happen.

While I was a part-time cashier at my uncle's business, the latter incident happened to me.

When you did it?

He has a modest company. During my summer vacations, I wanted to make the most of my time by learning new skills. I couldn’t say no to my uncle when he offered me a part-time job. Not only could I make money, but I also had the opportunity to gain experience. I didn’t mind working as a cashier because it was a summer job.

Why did you find it unpleasant?

On my first day on the job, I recall getting up early in the morning to get ready and there on time. The manager provided a lot of work to do on the first day. I was perplexed because it was my first day. I had no idea what to do or how to go about it. When I questioned the manager, he told me to wait, but after an hour, he began scolding me for not working. How would I have done it if I hadn’t known anything? Nonetheless, I conducted an internet search and inquired about the work with my coworkers.

How you felt about it?

They were helpful and assisted me in getting started on my job. I couldn’t share anything with my maternal uncle because he was out of town for a month. I didn’t even tell my parents about the incident since I didn’t want to be a crybaby and instead wanted to gain work experience.

However, I was fed up with the manager’s dominant and arrogant attitude. He had no idea I was the nephew of his employer. I simply observed his actions and waited for my maternal uncle to return to the city.

Apart from that, because of my extrovert attitude and amiable approach, my colleagues became my pals. They also stated that the manager frequently misbehaves with them and blames his errors on the staff. When my uncle returned, I told him everything. He promptly sacked the management. That was the most awful job I ever had, despite the fact that it was just for a month.
