What you did

I have an addiction to the drug. So, whenever I have the chance, I hunt for an exciting activity to partake in. I wasn't always a risk-taker. I arrived here after a protracted journey. Today, I'd like to discuss an outdoor activity I recently attempted for the first time. When I went swimming with my father at a nearby sports club, I was fourteen years old.

When and where you did it

I did not enjoy it initially as the club had an outdoor swimming pool and I felt awkward swimming when other people were watching. Also, I was an amateur, and I didn’t want people to laugh at me. I couldn't keep my body afloat as well as my father could. Also, it took me weeks to learn the brace style which was one of the basic styles of swimming. After months and months of practice and constant support from my father, I learned the basic style perfectly. We then moved on to learn some other styles like a butterfly, front crawl, and so on. After getting a hold of a few styles I started enjoying swimming. I spent almost an hour or two perfecting my other swimming styles and swimming time.

How you felt about it later

I thoroughly enjoyed the swimming lessons with my father. It was truly exhilarating and fun. My father encouraged me to participate in several inter and intra-school swimming competitions. This is to ensure that they would increase my confidence and motivate me to learn more. I earned many certificates by participating in these competitions. It was the first outdoor sport that I tried and it benefitted it in many ways.

What you did

I am not a fan of sports and if someone were to ask me to play a sport I would rather prefer an indoor sport. My mother on the other hand loves to play outdoor sports. She always pushed me to learn outdoor sports as it keeps us healthy and fit. The sport is running.

When and where you did it

I was fifteen years old when she took me with her running. I never liked running, instead, I hated all outdoor sports. Finally, I gave in to my mother’s constant pestering and accompanied her to the nearby park where she went for her daily run. My mother ran almost 6 km every day, which was near impossible for me.

When Initially started running I was constantly exhausted and gave up a few times. However, my mother constantly motivated me. We ran a few kilometers and then took a 10-minute break. We repeated it for about a week and after a week started reducing the break time. After a month I was able to run without any breaks. I absolutely loathe running initially, but with the right technique and my mother's constant motivation and persistence, I started enjoying it. Running somewhat became a habit of mine. It also helped me to maintain a constant weight throughout. Despite the health benefits, running regularly helped me to control my stress levels.

How you felt about it later

I started running at fifteen but ever since there has not been a single day when I didn't go running. It was one of the best habits that my mother inculcated in me.

What you did

If I had to talk about one outdoor sport that I absolutely love, it would be biking. Biking is quite popular nowadays. Biking, sometimes also referred to as cycling, is one of the best cardio routines and makes our heart stronger.

When and where you did it

Being an adrenaline junkie, I loved cycling from a small age. It was the first outdoor that I had ever tried. My uncle gifted me a cycle on my thirteenth birthday, which was when I initially started cycling. Everyday, I took my cycle to my backyard, put on my helmet and my knee pads, and practiced cycling. Not to mention I fell down a couple of times. My father then taught me the technique on how to perfectly balance the cycle. After months and months of practice, I finally learned to bike. I was no longer riding it in my backyard but instead cycled a few km up and down the road. My parents motivated me to join the cycling clubs in the city and also to participate in the various biking championships. This further increased my confidence and enhanced my skills. Wanting to satiate my thrill, I later went to learn mountain biking. It was fun and dangerous at the same time.

How you felt about it later

I participated in several mountain biking championships and got hurt a few times, but in the end it was all worth it. It was an exhilarating and fun-filled experience for me. Biking was the first ever outdoor sport that I had learned. Moreover, it endowed me with some of the best thrilling experiences of my life!
