Topic: Describe an outdoor activity that you did for the first time.
You should say:
Answer 1:
what you did?
One outdoor adventure that I personally did for the very first time was mountain trekking. This was because I had not attempted trekking before because it was something that I thought was too physically demanding for me. This was until I did it with my friends in my previous college two years ago.
where and when you did it?
We embarked on the trekking adventure in the Western Ghats, close to a small hill station. This trekking activity was conducted very early in the morning during the winter season. This ensured that the climatic conditions were very good. Our trekking route passing through forests, rocky areas, and narrow streams was long. Even though the trekking was tiring, the surroundings were just awesome.
how you felt about it later?
To begin with, I was a bit anxious and unready, particularly when the trail turned steep. Nonetheless, as we progressed, I found myself looking forward to the exercise. When we reached the top, the sense of satisfaction that I felt was immense. It had been well worth the trouble. Later on, I was very proud of myself for leaving my zone of comfort. This experience has also made me realize just how important it is to stay active and be in nature. I was mentally refreshed and physically rejuvenated for days after this trek.
and say if you would recommend this activity to your friends?
I would certainly recommend trekking to my friends. Since it not only helps to improve one’s physical fitness but also enhances one’s confidence and reduces one’s stress. Provided one is well-prepared, it will be a rewarding experience to go on a trek.
Answer 2:
what you did?
One of the outdoor activities that I tried was long-distance cycling for the first time. Though I knew how to operate a bicycle, I had never cycled more than a few kilometers before this experience.
where and when you did it?
I tried this activity last summer when I joined the local cycling group in my city. We had cycled early in the morning along the scenic route near the outskirts of the town, and it didn't have much traffic. Surroundings included roads, fields, and trees. The ride was nearly two hours.
how you felt about it later?
First, I was excited, yet worried whether I would finish the distance. The first few kilometers were easy, but soon my legs started aching and I felt exhausted. But the cool breeze, open roads, and friendly encouragement from the group saw me through. Once the ride was over, I had a great feeling inside of myself and pride. My body was exhausted, but my brain was rested and positive. Later that day, I realized that this outing did refresh me more than any indoor workouts.
and say if you would recommend this activity to your friends?
Long-distance cycling is very much recommended to my friends as it enables one to maintain good fitness, enjoy nature, and increase stamina. It promotes discipline and teamwork if it is done in a group. Cycling can be both enjoyable and beneficial for all ages if proper safety gear is used with practice by gradually increasing the duration and frequency.
Answer 3:
what you did?
I had done overnight camping for the very first time, which is one of those outdoor activities. Since my childhood, I had heard a lot about camping, but I never got a chance to try it out until last year.
where and when you did it?
We had gone to a campsite near a lake, which was around 50 kilometers away from my city. As we went during the winter season, the temperature was at a pleasant and comfortable level. At the campsite, we pitched our tents, cooked food in the open air, sat in the cold evening around a small campfire, and just had casual chit-chat, which added to the serenity around us.
how you felt about it later?
At first, I was a bit uncomfortable because I was not used to sleeping outdoors without modern facilities. However, as the night progressed, it turned out that little by little, I started enjoying the serenity of the environment. Watching the stars, the sounds of nature, and sharing stories with my family, all together made it one of a lifetime experience that I'll carry along with me.
Later, I felt extremely relaxed and happy. Camping helped me get disengaged from my phone, and also, it helped me get out of my routine cycle. It brought my family closer, and it also taught me how to manage with whatever minimal facilities that were available, which, in itself, is a big learning for me.
and say if you would recommend this activity to your friends?
I would surely recommend camping to my friends, particularly to those who feel stressed out with city life. It helps people to slow down, appreciate nature, and gain new experiences. If one plans well and takes necessary safety measures, it can be a really refreshing and memorable outdoor activity for everyone.
