Model Answer 1

What the object is?

There is a saying that, ‘old is gold’. As the day passes on new things and new fashions come into existence. People with values and with a little bit of nostalgia preserve things that may not be in use, but are for future display. Certain things like books, cutlery, lamps, furniture, jewelry, stamps, and vehicles are kept for such purposes. I would like to talk about a piece of medieval jewelry that my family has been maintaining.

Where your family got it from?

My mum received a priceless diamond and gold jewellery from my grandma that belonged to my great-grandmother. In my family, it has long been customary for the mother-in-law to pass on the diamond necklace to their daughters-in-law as a keepsake. In the future, my mother will likewise give the same gift to my future bride, who is her future daughter-in-law. The diamond necklace is quite substantial, ornamental, shiny, and sparkling. Additionally, it is highly costly. It is a distinctive necklace with an odd aesthetic appeal. These days, carvings of this nature are uncommon because most are produced by machines. Anyone's heart is touched by this enormous old-fashioned, flashy, perfect, sparkling, majestic, and astounding antique.

How long it has been in your family?

This necklace is worn by my mother to represent grace, wealth, and safety. My family's female members have always enjoyed donning jewelry as a sign of femininity and to demonstrate social standing. It boosts the self-esteem, attractiveness, and beauty of our women. We have pictures of our great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother all sporting the same piece of art, which is interesting. It is a big favourite of my mother's. She only wears it on exceptional occasions and keeps it safe. Everyone compliments it, which is only natural given its distinguishing qualities. The diamond necklace is special due to its sentimental connection to our past as well as its monetary value. As a representation of their culture and traditions, I hope every family will keep such priceless items for future generations.

Model Answer 2

What the object is?

At home, we are able to honour the past in a variety of ways. Some of them are really useful, while others are priceless. I want to talk about "the typewriter," a vintage item that has been a part of my family for a very long time.

Where your family got it from?

It belongs to my grandfather. He purchased it since he was a skilled typer. He frequently typed short pieces and sent them to several magazines. My father and mother keep it secure and operational even though he passed away many years ago. It is a mechanical keyboard that only accepts English characters. It has numerous keys. They allow you to use pieces of type to write on the page. They are elevated lettering on metal slugs. On the white paper, they form precise printed marks. In order for the elevated letters to print properly on the paper, they are molded in reverse. By pressing a ribbon that has already been inked, each key causes one character to be printed on paper. A type element on the ribbon is designed to selectively rub against the paper.

How long has it been in your family?

It is approximately 40 years old. Even though we have a desktop and a laptop, we still use them to practise typing and frequently to protect our eyes from the bright screens of electronics. It has an antiquated appearance. It enhances the drawing room's elegance in a distinctive way. Actually, it took place at my grandfather's house. When he passed away, we brought it home. My mother specially made a wooden table to place the typewriter on it. Though the typewriter is bulky and heavy, you can improve your typing skills and speed. We still use the typewriter because it still works. It has been a favorite for many writers and journalists also. So, if you have such a machine, please use it and enjoy it.

Model Answer 3

What the object is?

As a family is attached to certain things, they are kept for generations. They are the values of unique things that are transferred from elders to youngsters. Here I would like to talk about an old thing that is very important to my family. That is an antique clock.

Where your family got it from?

There is an antique clock that my great-grandfather got from the district collector of the time, for achieving success as a social reformer. It has been symbol of my family that the antique clock is found on the front wall of our living room. In the future, the new houses would also have a space for that antique clock. It is called “antique” because that value is over a century old. It is a working decorative object. It is a thing of beauty that has a soul. We can buy a new clock and replace it, but not of that kind of craftsman’s skill. We can hear the voices of our ancestors from the antique clock when all else is still. It's the impressive kind of rock and tick that relaxes our hearts.

How long has it been in your family?

In the clock, quarter-hour chime sequences are very accurate. At each hour, the full chime sequence and the hour strike sound. At 15 minutes 1/4 of the chime sequence sounds, at 30 minutes 1/2 of the chime sequence, and at 45 minutes 3/4 of the chime sequence sounds. The chime tune used is Westminster Quarters. The left weight in the clock gives power to the hour strike, the middleweight gives power to the clock's pendulum. The right weight gives power to the quarter-hour chime sequence. The antique clock is something special not only because of its looks but also of its emotional attachment to our forefathers. I hope every family should keep such antique things for generations to come as a symbol of past artifacts.
