Similarly, when I went to Elante mall with my husband to shop in preparation for the wedding, I ran into a childhood friend. If I were talking about her taste, I'd say we had a lot in common. My husband and I were surprised when, after shopping, we decided to have lunch and found ourselves in a line.

How you got in contact?

When I turned my face, I heard someone trying to call me by my name. After many years, I was surprised to see one of my old schoolmates.

And explain how you felt about it?

My eyes welled up with tears because it felt like a dream. As a result, after graduation, we didn't meet up with each other. As a result, that was a very happy time for both me and my friend. She explained that she had gone to my old house but couldn't find me there because I had moved to a different place. As a result, I was unable to contact my old friend to inform her of the situation. So that moment brought back memories for me, and then we were both delighted to be in each other's company; then it was time for us to leave because we were in a hurry and only had a few days to get to Canada. So we decided to meet in a nearby cafe, where we'd previously had many meetings and had a lot of fun. So that's when I ran into an old friend.

What he or she is like?

Rave used to be a jewel of a person and one of our class's brightest minds, who was looked up to by all of our fellow students. As a result, he was the apple of our teachers' eyes. Regardless, I became friends with him just because of his demeanour and sincerity, as well as his interactions with others. Rave, to my surprise, was still the same after all these years, with the same smile, composure, and calm demeanour, as if nothing had altered.

How you got in contact?

When Rave called my name, I was choosing some of the outfits and discussing their prices with the shop attendant. I initially ignored the caller because I couldn't tell if he was an old acquaintance. I realised he was Michael when he started calling my name twice. Following that, we chuckled and guffawed uncontrollably until we glanced at our timepieces. Finally, we exchanged contact information and agreed to meet up again soon.

And explain how you felt about it?

It was a delightful surprise as well as an unforgettable experience. I reminisced about our younger days and acted out every silly antic we used to do. It's nothing short of a blessing to reconnect with someone from our childhood, especially when it happens when you least expect it, and I'm glad we did.

What he or she is like?

She was one of my closest friends in grade 10, but because she chose the Arts stream and I chose the Medical stream in 11th grade, we didn't get to spend much time at school with each other. We did, however, meet after school hours because she went to visit me at my house on occasion.

How you got in contact?

We used to talk on the phone and text almost every day until late at night, and we'd gossip for hours. She also ended up taking me to Kip's market twice when we were in eighth grade in 2007, and I still miss our long scooter rides together. Because the college where I work was closed down due to Covid 19, I had plenty of time to go through my social media accounts when the lockdown began. I was going through my Message on Facebook requests one day and was pleasantly surprised to see that I had received a message from her in April of this year.

And explain how you felt about it?

Because my friend's queries were blocked, she most likely sent me the message. I opened the message right away and replied to her. She responded to my message within an hour of receiving it. She frequently messages me on Facebook, and we talk so when we both have the opportunity. It was wonderful to reconnect with a long-lost childhood friend. May the Lord grant her a long and healthy life.
